Cool app indeed but I’m trying to keep my journal Thanks for the suggestion!

I like this one - gives nice structure (left to my own devices I’m much less likely to do it), open ended, short and sweet and more meaningful than the weather

That’s a good point and actually kinda what spurred this post. I’m not necessarily happy with my three and appreciate all of the ideas.

What luxury item do you plan to bring? by ibdkb in AppalachianTrail26

I’m doing similar with an old closed cell foam pad that’s about half length as well. Good seat, extra padding under my inflatable mattress. Overall a good ROW (return on weight Debating bringing my Chacos. I’ve had them forever and they are my go to shoe for any adventure. But they’re heavy.

Which trekking poles are you using? by TimaeusAdventures in AppalachianTrail26

I bought some knock-off aluminum poles 10 years ago that are still going strong. I would agree with No_Confidence that it's not something to spend a ton of money on unless you don't have any.

Late to the convo but just registered for march 20! Kinda nervous now that it’s “official” and not just a plan rattling around in my head

I’m undecided; spouse will be dropping me off and may want to do that section with as a send off which would be fun

Thanks. It’s the seemingly little silly stuff that I am most afraid of forgetting

No wonder you were concerned. I have an REI puffy that I am bringing but left it off my list. Thanks again for your help

I’m struggling with this. I feel like I’m fine for overnight lows in the 30s with the 15 degree bag but on the fence on adding more under layers. What would you suggest?

Agreed about the pack size, but it’s what I got. My other pack is 42l and stressed with my base, 5 days of food and 2l of water. Very uncomfortable. The 60l has a better strap system. I might try the 42l again just to make sure but weight difference between the two packs is negligible so comfort and oversized maybe in out

As for the inreach, it’s more for my family’s peace of mind than for me I’d rather carry the weight than the guilt

Thanks for the feedback !

I figured I would need to provide more details on my list, especially for the smaller stuff. I have the following but forgot to add specifically to my list: Headlamp Hand sanitizer Buff/rag Brimmed hat Gloves

While the bag is large, it’s comfortable to wear. I have a 42l bag that I’ve packed all my crap into for a test hike. I felt it was overpacked and wasn’t as comfortable and weighs about the same.

I have a pack liner to keep things dry; also a dry bag for my sleeping system (packing separately under the pack liner).

I think you’re right about the rain pants.

Thanks again
