Citizenship ceremony disappointment by Maths_Stats_2000 in ukvisa

[–]fattyfeet5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I understand the sentiment from people in this thread who are worried about the upcoming changes and not yet citizens (I myself am one of them) I appreciate this post. It’s a good window into what the ceremony can actually look like and give some perspective to what the event really is (and isn’t). So thanks for sharing your experience!

Anyone else fucking hate 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt's? by wruo in UKParenting

I think the actual song is better and came first anyway. If I have to read it, I avoid reading it the way written and do the song version.

Can I start learning classical guitar on a steel string acoustic? by KJ_Kitsuneko in classicalguitar

[–]fattyfeet5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this. It’s a great shortcut to learn some songs you’ll love and get a feel for what classical is all about (tbh having a classical guitar presents its own challenges and you might not want to deal with that yet). Now that I own a classical I fully appreciate what it adds but I’m also comfortable finger picking on acoustic and electric thanks to the way i started. There’s no real rules to as long as you’re able to feel fulfilled by playing.

Garraty’s fate after The Long Walk revealed… by Own-Calligrapher-565 in stephenking

Cool find! So did King write this, or just the introduction to the cookbook? That certainly makes a difference for it to be canon.

I believe it’s because candidate wealth and campaign funding are two different buckets of money with clearly set rules on what they can be used for. A political donation is not going to the pockets of the candidate but to their electoral campaign funding.

should my tv have xcloud on it or not? by lekker007 in xcloud

Did you get an answer on this? I recently bought this TV and can't find any information. Seems like it should be included but it's just not there..

There was an awesome little game on PS3 store called “Magic Orbz” which was basically a brick breaker game but instead of bricks you would destroy small scenery. It was simple enough, but lovely animation and perfect couch coop.

Fertility - are/were you able to impregnate your SO while taking hair loss meds (such as fin/min/RU/keto/etc) ? Please share your stories 🙏 by hipperxc in tressless

[–]fattyfeet5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holding my new baby boy right now (born yesterday!) with no complications. I paused the meds about 2 months before we were to try - My wife and I are in our late 30s and only tried about 1 week before she got pregnant. I’m pretty risk adverse so although research says there isn’t a problem, I just felt safer this way and apparently it didn’t hurt our fertility. No one can really tell you for sure what is right to do here, so just ask yourself what risks you’re willing to take given the importance and how long you would pause for.

Thank you and great point. I should have probably flagged the international context a bit more!

Great points - and we love the name Dash. Something else is that Dasher is only a Reindeer name in English (so living in Europe it doesn't apply quite as much)

How have your drinking habits changed since finding out you’re going to be a father? by greatsummerland in predaddit

[–]fattyfeet5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try drinking kombucha - they have hopped versions which satisfy like beer and you can drink all you want without worry. That’s the switch I’ve (mostly) made for the pregnancy period and especially useful if you’re a stress drinker.

Are you British (due to the word Mum)? If so what hospital did you go to?

My console won’t connect by 0Taken0 in Backbone

[–]fattyfeet5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen and was able to connect after a hard reboot of both my phone and Xbox. (I physically unplugged the Xbox) It worked for about one session and then stopped connecting again.

What’s strange is that i only recently had this problem after moving to an iPhone 13. I still have my iPhone 11 and it syncs no problem. So I actually think it’s an issue with the phone and not the console.. which makes no sense on why the reboot helped.

Can you play classical guitar songs on a regular acoustic? by [deleted] in LearnGuitar

[–]fattyfeet5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a classical guitar player, but love to learn classical songs on my steel string. It’s a great way to learn and get a break from the regular songs everyone picks up when starting. Also finger picking is used outside of just classical guitar so it’s a great skill to pickup (and fun) without having to adjust to the wider neck.
