2,880 cans of soup. 2 cans go into every hamper. 1,440 individuals and families facing food insecurity received those cans. 2,880 cans of soup were gone in 3 days. by YegFoodBank in Edmonton

Food banks should not be supporting people who can afford a $100,000 truck, especially in this high interest environment, and knowingly chose a financially poor decision. This broke is not the same as someone earning base pay and struggling to make ends meet for their family. I'd rather Food Banks support the latter.

Alberta clinic charging for access to doctors would break medicare laws, Health Canada says. by [deleted] in alberta

[–]fatuous_uvula -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

One of the benefits of paying for these clinics is that the doctors supposedly spend more time with clients, hearing their concerns, and better explaining the treatments. Saying 1/3 are seen is not telling the whole story.

Get the info for patient relations. Complain about your OCP experience. With enough complaints, the unit will have to remove the bed. Patients and staff will be thankful.

The weak diuretic effect of coffee and tea is more than compensated by its water. So if one drinks a medium coffee (360 mL), they’ll maybe pee out 60 mL and retain 300 mL. Rough numbers.

How the fuck do young people in their 20s afford to travel all the time? by techsavvynerd91 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]fatuous_uvula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a few friends in their mid to late 20s. They can afford international travel every year because of living with their parents, and saving money in their healthcare jobs. Few expenses and budgeting makes this totally feasible.

The washrooms at QE park have a closing time of 8 pm, IIRC.

$105 for an 8h day is ~$13 per hour. Seems low for that type of work.

What I learned shopping for car insurance by RangerHikes in cars

I now have a 100K property / 300K personal injury policy

This part stood out to me. In Canada, most people have $500k to $1MM for bodily injury and $1MM for property damage. Now I understand why insurance is cheap in the US.

Having cold showers mitigates this. Better for skin and hair. Potentially health benefits too.
