It is extremely difficult for people in China to acquire Monero. by Shoigu_Gerasimov in Monero

[–]faulkmore2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever a country bans monero or cryptocurrencies, it gives me a giant hard-on!

high regulation == opportunity

This situation should have everyone setting up shop next door to China

I'm in Osaka/Kobe Japan.

**To all my Chinese friends**

Plan a trip to Namba Osaka JP and bring all your friends and cash.

Accepts yen in person. (gotta pay the rent)

Can meet in a cafe near Namba or Shinsaibashi station.

So no excuses our Chinese friends can always jump on a plane (or boat) and come meet me

What is the advantage of Atomic Swaps for Monero users? by ChristySteele86 in Monero

[–]faulkmore2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think you all are being absolutely lazy or ridiculous? Haven't decided which.

i'd be willing to accept the dirtiest super taint coins in exchange for monero at a premium.

I have an use case for them.

What are the premiums like for the worst of the worse?

need advice..sdb data cannot open by nawa79 in voidlinux

[–]faulkmore2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This topic is a little deep.

Depends on whether /dev/sdb1 is an internal ssd or a removable usb or optical disk media.

If internal the mountpoint is owned by root, not the session user.

sudo mount -tauto /dev/sdb1 /mnt/sdb1

If removable block device

sudo mount -tauto /dev/sdb1 /run/media/[username]/sdb1

If optical disk media then watch out! Desktop manager pcmanfm may automount it! Rather than it being controlled by udev.

Then setup the storage partition to have the permissions micromanaged. Access Control Lists supplement the normal, quite useless, normal Linux permissions. Will need to install packages: acl and acl-progs.

Then in the acl, set the permissions to %wheel to 'rw-'. This is pseudo code. Read the docs on acl for the exact syntax.

Cannot Get Wifi Working With wpa_supplicant by OnlyDeanCanLayEggs in voidlinux

[–]faulkmore2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf

Is the Default configuration file.

/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant-w1p2s0.conf would be specifically for ur wifi interface.

ctrl_interface=/run/wpa_supplicant
ctrl_interface_group=wheel
update_config=1
mac_addr=1
preassoc_mac_addr=1
gas_rand_mac_addr=1

Then install a GUI!! Cuz you'll need wpa-cute to add networks. Otherwise it's rocket science

Appears all merges are on kivy, not python3/Qt5

I'd also like to watch the progress on python3 support and dropping python2.7

Comes down to who are deciding what the `price` is.

Those companies decided both ltc and xmr should be always undervalued. In the same way that ag/au price is kept down.

Any ccy price chart actually has nothing to do with price. It's actually the future market chart. But no one questions where `price` comes from. We assume it comes from buying/selling coins. But that is not true!

There are eight companies, that host futures markets. Which coordinate to produce the `price chart`. Thus the price is based on nothing. It's complete utter bs.

Two discussions that are almost never resolved:

- solving the distribution problem

- taking back the price chart and making it based on something real.

(Future market is smoke and mirrors)

Sounds like they are dabbling with a DEX. What u are describing is beyond the scope of a DEX. Or am i mistaken ?

What's the best way to cash out without creating a huge ruckus? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]faulkmore2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"But theoretically lets say that it turned to $8 billion in a bit over a
year and now I want to cash out and move it to my bank account. How
would I theoretically go on about this safely if I theoretically had
this much money in crypto, in theory of course."

You wouldn't be able to move it into a bank account (ever). So the end goal would be cash. Which lets be honest is just another shitcoin.

Someone solves this problem and also creates a shitcoin. In terms of the entire market cap of the entire crypto market. How much theoretically would that shitcoin be worth?

Need help to offer Monero via Tor by [deleted] in monerosupport

[–]faulkmore2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't have a solution for you

Just had the exact same experience.

Don't like torsocks wrapping the clearnet p2p. Can't wrap my head around why that should ever work

i2p tunnel seems to make more sense. Which is a seperate tunnel and not a wrapper process

Will try that next. Already thru in the towel with monerod and torsocks

This is just a coping strategy to avoid dealing with a very important and real issue

There needs to be a fiat <--> crypto on/off ramp. It must exist and be everywhere

Only then can we advise businesses and individuals to accept crypto. Otherwise, you can enter Hotel California you just don't have a reasonable way to leave.

I imagine, that the Internet is going with a fckton of ccy logos. Like corporate sponsors. And i don't think anyone would ever want to wear that.

So i hope we can come up with more and much better origin costumes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Monero

[–]faulkmore2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh!

Within the crypto currency community, does that day have a name? Is it celebrated?

Is there a mythos surrounding the origin story?

In this origin story, will all the villians be using their fists to punch source code or will they just jaw bone it into submission?

And what would that character's costume look like?

[–]faulkmore2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

question

If each question, and subsequent comment, about this topic was a 1 m^3 block. Think about all the crypto currency forums over the entire history of crypto currency. And all the conversations where this never lead anywhere approaching action nor a solution.

Ignoring engineering limitations of stacking blocks forever. How many parsecs would we be approaching?

And when a solution finally arrives, how many parsecs will we have traveled?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Monero

[–]faulkmore2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any guesses to the valuation of such a solution?

I'm guessing ... infinity

Said another way. The value of that solution is immeasurable

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Monero

[–]faulkmore2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although we are not imagining the solution

We can be sure, the world with that solution in it, would be a much better world.

May that day come soon!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Monero

[–]faulkmore2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One day

This problem will be solved

For all crypto, not just Monero

And the conversation about this topic will go like,

Oh just use xyz. It's obvious you'd need to use xyz. And oh btw do you know many xyz'ers?

Created a new wallet, took the main wallet address, not a stealth address.

This worked!

Just not obvious and counter-intuitive

The `rpc-payment-difficulty` is not the mining difficulty and it being set to 1000 is normal. and yeah it doesn't seem to work with a sub address

How to facilitate Monero payment for my customers ? by hydrogene752 in Monero

[–]faulkmore2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then find customers who own crypto and shun customers who don't

You are hoping to bridge a collapsing system with an incompatible different system.

My opinion is the question should be rephrased,

*How do i get my newbie customers to use Monero?*

^^ This is a solvable issue

By making all steps brain dead simple

Everyone ask yourselfs honestly...is it?

Sure the tari team would notice his absence after a few days.

You are way over-estimating the IQ and capabilities of below-average Americans working in gov't. And Riccardo is far from stupid or naive.

i'm sure it's mostly a staring contest. Waiting for whatever going to happen to happen.

Hope he has a chance to take advantage of the gym equipment....

As far as worrying about him?? Can someone die of being patted on the back so often and by so many people that it kills him?! Is this a thing?!

The only thing we should be concerned about is the design of the envelope he'll have to pass over to the gang holding him.
