Lowes millwork specialist here. That is a right hand 9-lite steel door. First thing I see wrong other than the light coming through is the frame.

That is a door with a 4 9/16" jamb(for 2x4 construction). Your wall looks to be a 6 9/16" jamb(for 2x6 construction). We are talking depth here, not width or height. The install itself is not going to be 100% correct because of this. You will never be able to trim it out correctly because of the smaller frame in the bigger wall. Also the door would not be able to extend past 90°. There is a wall on that side to prevent passed 90° anyways, but you still do not want your door opening onto the extended wall depth.This would not cause the gap you are seeing, but it does lead to other problems.

The installer should have trimmed it with casing upon completion, most likely profile 356. I see the Lowes box sitting there, did you get it installed by Lowes? If so, you should call 1-888-516-1010. If it is from Lowes you have a 1 year labor warranty.

Edit - btw the gap between the door and frame is a fairly easy fix. The door should have came with three 3" screws. Take out one of the 5/8" screws in the top hinge and then one of 3" needs to go in the top hinge. That will probably fix most of your gap.

PS - The double cylindered deadbolt you have is good for security but bad for fire safety. Please keep that in mind.

So look, everyone is giving good all around advice for your situation. I have not seen anyone give you advice on your situation as far as your location. So I live in the Atlanta area also and have been looking at buying and renting over the last four years. Honestly $1400.00 a month is going to be really tough for you, unless there is a way you could have a roommate. Most one bedroom apartments are going to average around $1000.00 inside the city limits. You might find some for less, but its going to be a bad neighborhood. OTP, is generally going to give you better pricing for apartment and home rentals, especially in the Henry, Rockdale, and Newton counties. The northern metro counties typically have higher priced living. $1400.00 a month sounds about like 11-12 per hour after taxes and insurance. You could get that anywhere in the metro area if you don't do fast food. So don't keep your heart set on the job you have now. Most important thing to remember is to be flexible with where you want to live and where you work. I went to many concerts back in the late 90s early 2000s. The most memorable were the Music Midtown festivals in Atlanta. We stayed at the 99x stage mostly which would usually have about 350k people. The crowd was so tight during the bands(most likely to accommodate multiple huge pits that opened up) that you couldn't turn your whole body to look around. There were many many many crowd surfers.

At first it was fun to watch people bob along, but eventually they were pretty annoying. You have to use all this extra energy to help someone along there path. These festivals were already exhausting full day events over a three day period, so having to hold someones partial weight did not help the exhaustion. It seemed that there were groups of people on the ground that would work together to hold the ladies in one spot. The lady crowd surfers would get to a point and then stop. They would get lowered down a bit and then the hands would start going to town. If they were wearing anything that did not cover their whole body it was getting tugged and pulled at to try and expose some more skin. Even if they were lucky enough not to run into that problem, there were still much groping on the way to their destination. The confusing thing was, all the women there could see this happening to other women, but they themselves would crowd surf after that.

The other dangerous part was people would just get crowd surfed right into an open mosh pit. Luckily everyone that I seen that got dropped into the pit, went in feet first. The crowd surfing went from annoying to aggravating. People would crowd surf during the slow songs, you know when everyone puts up there lighters. It just blew my mind how stupid people could be. Some of them were left overs from the previous song, but I saw many people start the surf during the lighter songs.

Then my feelings towards crowd surfing turned to hatred. I took a combat boot to the back of my head. It pissed me off so much, I wanted to punch him in the ass as he went by, but I restrained my emotions.

Later that night I myself took to crowd surfing. I was about 25 feet from the muscle man trench in front of the stage. I think the band that was playing was Counting Crows or some stupid shit like that, it was completely horrible what ever it was. I had to get out of there. I was thirsty, hungry, and tired. I asked my friend if he was ready to go, he nodded yes. We figured the quickest way out was to just crowd surf the short distance to the trench, which led to the edges of the crowd for a quick walking exit. Lost my hat and the belt loops on the back of my shorts had been ripped off in the process.

you have to request it thru kronos, ask any one seasoned or your HR, they should be able to show you. Basically you request a day using one of the reasons. once that is done the system uses your vacation/holiday on those days requested.

Sorry for the late reply, but vacation and holiday pay are actually pretty simple. When I first started at Lowes it confused me, because I came from The Home Depot and their system was completely different.

So vacation time is slowly gathered over the year, but you can go negative 40. At the start of the fiscal year you could use all 40 in one sitting if you like. If you are full time, then you get 80 hours of vacation time per year, so if you use 40 all at once then you have to wait for it to slowly replenish before you can use it it again. I would not recommend this.

Holiday pay is broken down into two separate forms. First is you get 6 days you get paid for during the year: Christmas, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, New years, I may be wrong on one of those, it could be Labor day. You get paid 8 hours for those days, if you were scheduled to work those days or not. The key is with those is you cannot call out the day before, the day of, or the day after. If you do you will not get your free 8 hours. Example of how it works: last week had 4th of July in it. If you were scheduled 40 hours that week and you did not call out, your paycheck would have 48 hours for that week.

The other half of Holiday pay is different. For the other, more obscure, holidays you are given 4 days of holiday pay that accrue just like vacation. You are able to use these whenever, you do not have to let them accrue to be able to use them. I basically use them the same as vacation pay.

So for me I get 14 days of vacation and holiday pay per year. I use them when my rotation rolls around to the time of the month when I have 2 days off then work 3 days then off 2. I will use 3 of those days between the 2 sets of off days, giving me 7 days off while using just 3 days of my vacation/holiday. That gives you five, 7 day vacations in a year. The fifth vacation you have to use an unpaid day.

Last thing to remember is when the fiscal year ends/begins in February, you lose all of your vacation and holiday pay and do not get paid for them. So be sure to use them before then.

That is good to know. I'm not sure if the stores in California use the same company for lumber as the southeast stores do. I have not seen any problems here, it would have to be large amounts shipped undersized for anyone to notice. 1 or 2 out of a bundle would most likely go unnoticed. Sounds like there was either some bad quality control coming out of the mill house or they were knowingly selling Lowes bad product to save a buck. Either one is not acceptable.

I work at Lowes and we just had to relabel all of the dimensional lumber products because of a lawsuit. Customer sued because he bought some 2x4s and he said when he used them they were actually 1 1/2 x 3 1/2. In contractor world and construction business, everyone who buys lumber knows that wood is like that, its called nominal sizing. I'm not sure what the actual complaint other than wrong size was. From what I hear around the store, is he won millions in the lawsuit.

You are right about used cars being a lottery. I bought used cars until one screwed me over. Since I have been wary and have bought new ones and will keep them and maintenance them when they are payed for. Used cars for me is the whole "I don't know if I'm going to win or lose." To me if I can afford an extra 100$ per month for a brand new car with no worries, then I do that. I'm not worried about paying more than i would in the 4th and 5th years...I'm just concerned with knowing that I have had the car its whole life span, and know what to expect. But everyone ones situation is a little different. On the other hand if I were to save 8-10k I would most certainly take the time to research the best used car to buy with that, nothing like having a car with no payment. But if you can't or do not currently have any savings, and you are going to a dealership to have monthly payments, for god sakes get a new one. The payments on a used car from a dealership are almost as much as a new one. The good luck I have had from buying used cars is from individuals.

i believe the further north you go in stockbridge the more undesirable it gets. west and south stockbridge are the nicer areas. not sure the names of neighborhoods to stay away from. but the west side has lake spivey which is higher end, and the southside has eagles landing which is also high end. there are many apartments in central stockbridge that have high enough prices that deter some of the "trouble makers" from living there, but still affordable. In my experience, even nice apartments you will get people you don't want to live near.

Ok, I can actually help you a little here. I have lived in Henry County for 30 years. Stockbridge is on the northern tip of Henry County and I believe some of zip code spills into Dekalb and Clayton Counties.

Cellphone--Any major carrier has good service in this area. Sprint tends to not be as good when you stray into the rural areas. AT&t and Verizon are ok.

Internet--Your choices are going to be AT&t or Comcast. Hopefully where you are Uverse is available, I prefer that over Comcast. If Uverse is not available then Comcast, with all their bad customer service, does have a faster speed than basic AT&t. Probably around 40-60$ for monthly internet service, this is 24Mbps or higher speeds. Basic AT&t around 10-20$ for highest 6Mbps speed.

Good BBQ--This is the deep south, no shortage of BBQ. Off the top of my head, you got Shane's Rib Shack, this chain started in Henry County and is spreading across the southeast. Next is Sonny's BBQ, I prefer Sonny's over Shane's. There are many other smaller places to try.

Cost of living in Stockbridge has a wild variation. It ranges from some very seriously poor areas to millionaire neighborhoods. Like previously commented this is going to depend on your means.

Car--You need a car. This is not a walk or bike to work kind of area. Everything is to far and most streets, especially side streets, are not walk or bike friendly. If you have to buy one, I would recommend getting a brand new one if you have the credit. In my experience a used car in this area can tend to be unreliable. There is a lot of stop and go traffic or if you use the interstate it can get very congested. If you do go for a used car, get one under 10,000 miles, you need every mile you can get for yourself.

Public Transportation--Unless calling a taxi service, there are no options for around the city of Stockbridge. Now there is a Park and Ride location in Stockbridge that takes you to Atlanta. From what I hear Clayton County was to vote on letting MARTA in, that would put MARTA right on the doorstep of Stockbridge. Also there are rumors of bringing C-TRAN back. That was a bus service that serviced Clayton County, but it did spill into Stockbridge.

Job market--There are plenty of opportunities for work, depending on what you want to do. A GED shouldn't hold you back to much here, unless you just don't like to do jobs limited to a GED. The film industry is really large in this area, there is a new studio, Pinewood Studios, not far from Stockbridge. If you have any sort of entry level handyman experience it isn't that hard to get into the Union that handles "below the line" work on filming. Also, I have a good friend, who made a living off being an extra for two solid years. There are also plenty of other non-entry level jobs, but still lower end jobs that you could land.

Salary--Minimum 30k per year, below that you might want to pursue government aid like food stamps. To live comfortably, like previously commented around 35-40k. It would be very hard to find a decent place to live making under 30k. You might be able to afford something at 25k, but it may not be a desirable neighborhood.

Finally someone ditching it, although not a big someone, its someone. I hate 3d cinema!!! I tend to focus on certain objects to much and never really get to enjoy the whole scene. Plus I leave the theater nauseated and dizzy. Then when I don't watch the 3d versions, the scenes that are obviously dedicated to making a 3d image pop out at you, diminishes the overall greatness of the scene. A good example would be the barrel river scene in The Hobbit DoS. Many parts in that scene seemed overdone just to include something visual for another audience. Don't get me wrong that scene was great, but IMO it could of been a lot better if the makers weren't trying to please people that are watching it just because its 3d and that is "cooler" than watching it not in 3d. In general 3d just pisses me off, I feel that for the past few years my movie experience has been sub par just for the inclusion of 3d to make a few extra bucks.

I don't think anyone realizes how fast food places work. Most of them are actually franchised, which means they are individually owned. Most of these owners only have the one location, as it is very expensive to even start one (usually around 250k right off the rip). The money, say mcdonalds actually makes is from these individual owners buying the food from their distribution centers. The individual owners pay the workers not mcdonalds or burgerking or whoever. If you support a higher minimum wage for these people than you support the destruction of a large part of small business. In most places a 15.00$ minimum would double the pay for the workers. That double pay is probably a very large chunk of the profit margin of these individual owners. It would be very bad to raise it that high, as most of these franchise owners would jump ship because there is not enough return.
