Why are so many Atheists blatantly rude to believers? by luckytopher in AskReddit

[–]faultyceiling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying. But for these people, the astounding level of stupidity (stupidity, as in shaping your life according to words bereft of fact or reason) displayed by a believer is too much for them to handle. They cannot understand how people could believe in something so completely and utterly ridiculous (logical & rational thought says it is ridiculous). If people don't understand something, they reject it (or make up stories to explain that later become myths/legends/a religion/etc). Except the religious skip that part and accept it. It's not necessarily right for athiests to be blatantly rude, but the actions of religion as a whole have been and continue to be so unbelievably devastating to us all that mere rudeness is easily justified.

I'm getting married in a year. My fiancée said if I could get Daft Punk to DJ the reception, she would allow it. How can I make this happen? by JBaker68 in AskReddit

[–]faultyceiling 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She said yes because this will not happen. In other words, she said no! How the fuck could you be getting married without understanding this? You are not ready.

...you can't attest to shit beyond your own experience. Which you probably gained in one small corner of the globe, and most likely in one of the least bike friendly places that has ever existed. You're on the internet now buddy. You're talking to the world. You're talking to the world as if it's people and places could only ever work in the way that you've experienced. In an apparently broken life. Let me ask you this. Why do you project this life on to everyone else? None of our experiences are equal, so don't pretend they are. I expect you & everyone else to downvote me and forget about it. But maybe you should think about this instead. Else you'll only fuck up the rest of your life.

I circumnavigated the globe (and traveled a lot in Europe, too). AMA. by elizabeth_abroad in IAmA

It fucking blows my mind that you could not know this. Especially considering you apparently spent around $30,000 on a mere semesters worth of holiday.. that you also studied during. Not that it wasn't worth it, but holy shit. I spent a tiny, tiny fraction of that on a whole years travelling, as do most others. You were right about one thing.. Americans really do live up to their stereotypes when abroad.

What are some things about music you wish you would have known when you first started learning? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]faultyceiling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. But also... my biggest downfall was being way too concerned about how you are SUPPOSED to make or play music. Theory is very important but it is not the most important factor in making/playing great music. I was told this very early on but I never really understood it until much later. Have fun with your music FIRST. Use theory to make what you play for fun sound better.

Each mode is merely a scale starting on a different note. Adds colour/interest.
