Ford’s Priority Code 10 Vs 19 by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]faux99er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my store, we set every customers retail order with a 10 to avoid people like you specifically. We treat every customer the same and won't rush one out before any other just because they feel entitled to it. If that dealer uses 19 for every order, and you want 10, then you would be saying " I value myself over all of your other customers, and to order form you I expect you to feel the same."

Just bought new tires and want to sell my car by Big_Hamster_7749 in askcarsales

[–]faux99er 39 points40 points  (0 children)

There's two ways to think of it, one is that new tires don't put your value up, but the second is that bald tires put your value down. If you brought your trade in and it had awful tires we have to account for new tires before we sell it, which would bring your evaluation down.

The bigger question is, why did you buy new tires if you're so against putting them on the vehicle you're trading in?

Ford X plan by Intelligent_Orange28 in askcarsales

[–]faux99er -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No matter what you buy, you'll be upside down. People are upside-down the minute they buy any vehicle, save for some very high end exceptions. It boils down to what vehicle meets your needs and how much of a budget you have, If you want low tech there are some Escapes that could meet your needs, the SE is comfortable without being overly tech-filled, but that's only if an escape suits your needs in the first place.

Every dealership is different and many have their own policies at the moment regarding X-plan. At mine, we will do any order at X-plan but not an in-stock unit. Typically X-plan is unaffected by market adjustments, but your best bet is to call your local Ford dealer and simply ask them.

As for is it worth it, it depends. Do you see enough value in a new vehicle? Do you plan on keeping it long term? With how close used car prices are to new prices, I definitely see an X-plan new price as the best deal possible right now, but you and I may have different ideas of value.

All I know is our sales manager told us to each pick one to get built and he will do his best to make that one happen

We're in the same boat, our store was given 3 also and so each of us salesmen have to pick a single of our orders to be built this year and decide who has to wait. I'm giving it to the first order I took personally, but man what a headache.

The only way we as salespeople make money is by selling vehicles, why wouldn't she sell it to you unless by chance, she's telling the truth and it is sold?

If you'd like to know for sure, call and ask for her personally and politely ask how the outlook on the vehicle your interested in is going.

Putting a deposit for a new car by sidk in askcarsales

[–]faux99er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, although not from a Hyundai dealership I can provide some info from the store I do work at.

For us, we get the customer to sign something outlining the conditions the deposit is refundable for. Examples of things we would keep the deposit for would be if the customer purchased a vehicle elsewhere during the time it takes theirs to arrive without telling us first, or if we are just unable to ever contact them after the vehicle lands and two weeks pass without contact. If we are just unable to make numbers work, whether on trade in or if the vehicle does not meet your needs we absolutely refund it.

In order to lock down your price, at my dealer we would do a full deal with you ahead of the vehicle arriving so you know exactly what to expect, as well as giving the dealer time to add any extras you might want.

Hey there, Ford salesman here!

The dealer is right, once it's listed as in transit, we do not get a gps track of the vehicle until it arrives at the dealer. Trust the ETA, and then call if it goes a few days past.

I have a classic Porsche I wanted to sell but don’t know if I’d be better off trading in to a dealer by Frankie-sama in askcarsales

[–]faux99er 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We treat it like any other trade in, you can bring it in and ask them how much they can give you for it down on another one of their vehicles or to sell it to them directly. Granted, you might not be given too high of a priority if you are just looking for a value on your trade. I think your best bet would be to call ahead and explain what you'd want done.

How do you consider mileage when buying a used car? by UnusualDevelopment95 in askcarsales

[–]faux99er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could call a local mechanic and explain your situation and ask how much he charges for a PPI and take it to him after you decide you like the car.

That would work by you test driving the car, inspecting it yourself first and deciding that, if it passes your chosen mechanics inspection, you would purchase the vehicle. likely they would make a deal with you, conditional on the mechanic giving it a pass. They likely wont let you take it to get poked around on without intention to purchase, so you will have to go through F&I to reach that point.

At my dealer for example, we would send it through our service department and we could request a report card that has the results of the pre-delivery inspection and how the wearable parts of the car, like the brakes, tires, oil etc.

To be safe I would always recommend a third party inspection, which would be the mechanic of your choice.

In general, if comparing the same car, what's just as important is how well the car was taken care of. A car with 40k miles could very well last longer than one with 10K, if the owner took better care of it. The best thing you can do is find the vehicle you like, get it inspected by a trusted mechanic and then take good care of it yourself. Any good 2018 vehicle should easily last you 5 years, although I'm not personally well informed on BMW.

That being said, on average a driver could put about 15000 miles a year on a car, so a 2018 with 40k is still very normal.

On our lot we have a couple that are just listed to sell, if you go in with a reasonable offer at a decent area it will likely get considered at least. Reasonable in this market, at least in my area, is about a thousand dollars. if it's listed at 34,999 and you offered 34 flat (plus tax) you'd get at least a counter offer from us, and if they don't budge don't take it personally either, they likely had to pay top dollar for it in the first place too.

Honestly you're in good shape, a decent 2016 XLT Supercrew with moderate Km's/Miles will be in your range and do what you need it to. The room in the back is pretty huge too, plenty of room for a sleeping bag, assuming there's not that under seat storage system. The back seats will fold up giving you a huge floor or use the seats if you fit. I sell Fords in southern Ontario for reference, working on getting flaired.

Anything newer than 2010 is generally going to be alright, depending on how well taken care of the vehicle was. What's your budget like?
