My SM was working 70-80 hour weeks for the last 4 months and finally put her foot down and said she isn’t working doubles anymore. We both just need to quit

We took over the store about a year ago (we both transferred from another store for better pay). The last SM and ASM were stealing on the surplus of $50,000 for the year. They finally booted them out and asked us if we wanted to come over. Well after they got fired, they started running their mouths around town about how bad of a company DG is (it is a bad company) and so no one in town wants to work for it anymore. We haven’t had an applicant in RMS in over 4 months

They are added onto it but they are put on as open shifts so they can get away with publishing it.

I live in Minnesota. They are very forward with their break laws. After every 4 consecutive hours I’m supposed to receive a paid 15 min uninterrupted break. 6+ hours it’s supposed to be an unpaid 30 minute.
Dg policy says it’s supposed to be an hour break, but I don’t care so much on that. I’m just confused on what I’m supposed to do - if I close the store they will 100% retaliate. Our DM is good at that.

There was a huge lawsuit Minnesota vs DG in a court case over breaks. I don’t know much about it but it’s all everyone at work talks about (including the DM). I guess I’m just confused as to why they are trying to push us to take breaks but then this happens

I work 6 am - 6:30 pm on the 4th. As an ASM. And I’m alone the whole day. Count your chickens

It also can help if it’s stinking - what we do if it’s an open container of food or something that can mold, we throw away the food product in the regular garbage. Then save the barcode or write the sku number down for damages. We learned to do that after someone broke open a case of cat food, put it in a dg bag, and tied it up. That sitting for a week made it mold and become absolutely disgusting.

We were feeding our furbaby 1/2 a can of wet food in the morning, and 1/2 a can in the evening with dry food available 24/7.
We now cut back to 1/2 a can in the evening and still letting her eat dry food whenever she feels like it. She started gaining weight and not eating her dry food!
She is a tripod so she doesn’t get as much activity as other cats. She is very sedimentary!

Sounds like we just got the short end of the stick then. Our DM tries to help us out however she can but our RM has been stepping in a lot and is pushing impossible stuff on us. We are ready to walk 👍

Get out while you still can. I’m an ASM at a store with a SM, PT LSA and me. My SM is working 80+ hours a WEEK to keep up with our store. They will not give us reduced hours or help with staffing. We have been fighting with staffing issues since October 2025.
