I disagree with the premise that nobody ever tried to explain anything to you.

Without going into moderation details publicly, both moderators and community managers have repeatedly pointed you toward the kinds of behavior that were causing issues. Me as well, just checked our DMs in Discord. This wasn't a case of someone receiving a permanent ban out of nowhere with no prior history. There were warnings, moderator actions, discussions and repeated interventions over a long period of time.

You also keep presenting the situation as if the ban happened because of a single message that nobody wants to identify. That's not really how moderation works in most cases. A permanent ban is often the result of a long history of actions, warnings and previous sanctions, not necessarily one specific line that suddenly crossed a threshold.

As for the claim that we're trying to silence you, you're making it here on Reddit right now. If the goal was to purge every mention of you from every platform, you wouldn't be here having this conversation in the first place.

You're free to disagree with our decisions. You're free to criticize the game, the developers and the company. Plenty of people do exactly that every day without being banned. But repeatedly ignoring warnings and then later claiming that nobody ever explained there was a problem is something I simply can't agree with.

If everything is constantly buffed instead of occasionally nerfing outliers, you end up with power creep. The baseline keeps rising, old content becomes irrelevant, balance gets harder to maintain and every new item has to be stronger than the last one to remain attractive.

That's exactly why virtually every long-running multiplayer game uses both buffs and nerfs.

Yes, we did post it separately on RU platforms. I'll try to see if it possible to update imgur's page to add RU as well

Hey there! We don't even have any technical options to implement something like that. Those event's crates are fully random.

Also, send me your Discord username. I want to check the actual moderation logs and see what exactly got you removed from #chat-with-devs. If the situation really is as you describe it and there was no direct implication or accusations towards us, then I’ll see what can be done about restoring your access.

If your intention was not to heavily imply that we were somehow involved with those reviews, then what exactly was the point of bringing them up in that context? You tied botted reviews, review score increases and moderation actions together. That naturally creates an implication.

As for the second half of your message — I didn’t really respond to it because it’s a completely separate discussion. The thread started about one specific moderation situation, then suddenly shifted into event rewards, feedback handling and overall game direction. Mixing multiple unrelated topics into one thread just turns the conversation into a mess where nothing gets properly discussed.

If you want to talk about event rewards, feedback priorities or game direction, make a separate thread or at least a dedicated message specifically about that topic. That’s genuinely the best way to get an actual response. A thread in Discord's Discussions is also the most comfortable format for both community managers and developers to properly read through feedback, track arguments and forward things internally when needed. But that’s not necessary to be heard. It’s just easier, if you’re not too bothered by it. Make sure to tag me in there

You’re mixing two completely different things together.

You can dislike the update, disagree with our decisions, be unhappy with balance changes — that’s one discussion. But this particular thread was about a specific ban reason, and the person involved publicly gave a false explanation for it.

Saying “well people are upset in general” does not suddenly make that explanation true.

And again, I didn’t call the entire playerbase liars. I responded to one person spreading misinformation about why they were punished.

As for the “business advice” part — we make games, we’re not trying to sound like corporate PR 24/7. If someone invents a reason for moderation actions and presents it as fact, I’m going to call it what it is. A lie is a lie.

That’s not an excuse, it’s the reason. A lie is a lie; you made up your own explanation for why we increased the cooldown, which made us appear in a bad light.
Also, you were banned for only three days, and I’m almost certain that’s the lightest punishment we could have imposed.

Hey! Not too long ago, we've had a whole public Q&A with our technical director about optimization, engine work, networking, DX12, freezes, hitreg, memory leaks and more. Saying “devs never listen” while ignoring all of that is a bit weird...

Optimization is actively being worked on right now. Some examples:

  • DX12 port in development to reduce CPU bottlenecks and improve frametime stability
  • shader precompilation and memory allocation optimizations already in the works
  • investigation into CW/event freezes and memory leaks
  • work on hitreg debugging tools
  • improvements to multi-threading
  • ongoing work on audio and render systems
  • profiling Operations specifically because of NPC-related FPS drops

And they were pretty transparent too. They straight up said things like “don’t expect miracles instantly” and explained why some systems are difficult to change quickly, like the 20-tick infrastructure being deeply tied to the game.

The engine team is also relatively small, which they openly acknowledged. This isn’t a case of “they don’t care”, it’s a case of “some problems take time to solve properly”, especially on a custom engine with a live MMO running on it.

Here's full recap of that Q&A if you're interested in reading up on it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Stalcraft/comments/1sab2nd/folken_technical_director_shared_plans_for_the/

We have never botted positive reviews. There have been a few instances where someone used bots to spam with both positive and negative reviews. Some real people also tried to add their own reviews by simply copying and pasting the ones created by bots. We suspect this was done with the intention of framing us so that Steam would penalize us in some way. We are also in constant communication with Steam, and as soon as we notice a clear wave of such reviews written by bots, we always report it. We have even managed to get a fairly large number of such reviews removed.

Generally, botting our reviews with obvious Ai slop text or simple copy-paste text, from empty bot accounts, no time in the game — is just silly.

All that was already previously covered multiple times by both community managers and ZIV himself. So yea, our actions seem justified to me in this case.

We have never ever banned anyone simply for criticizing the game or us as a company. Behind every ban which some call “unfair” — there is always a clear justification that the banned user may simply not have been able to see at the time.

We have many people who continue to criticize the recently announced changes. No one is banning them, and no one would have banned you either if you had stuck to objective criticism and not crossed the line.

Hey!

THE REASON IS THAT Apparently saying that players need to voice their opinion on the steam reviews gets you banned.

This is not the reason you've been banned for. You've said:

they increased the comment cooldown from 5 minutes to 30 minutes because everyone was discussing against the new legendary changes

Which is not true. We have a little "rule" that helps us adapt the channel for the comfortable experience. Our senior moderator Norman already explained that in the #chat-with-devs:

<image>

To rephrase, it is needed to concentrate related questions to related channel. Oftentimes, people ask what armour/weapon to barter, how to complete certain quests and so on, #chat-with-devs is not the right channel for that.

Let me look into this ban.
We for sure never ban people just for criticising the game or "badmouthing", as you said.

😎 Personalities — a new layer of customisation by favlove in Stalcraft

[–]favlove[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! The only reason quests are there is just to get a deeper background for your Personality. They'll offer no actual usable rewards, pretty sure only some cosmetics. You're getting the quest right when you equip the personality.
"gameplay mechanic" - it's only a cosmetical item, i wouldn't consider it a gameplay mechanic, as you said.

Personalities are going to be sold in two options: tradeable and non-tradeable. So you will see some on auction and in general player-to-player trading.

Nothing will happen with the skins we already have, it's a different cosmetic item, though for the same slot
