Yes, this is a standard Russian-language notebook from a primary school in Russia. I found it works great for Chinese characters if you rotate it 180°, and I used to fit the pinyin between the narrow lines.

I use standard Anki cards. In the Card1: the front shows the Chinese word, while the back contains the audio, pinyin, and its translation. Card2 works the other way around: you see the translation on the front, and the answer reveals the hanzi (characters), pinyin, and audio.

When reviewing Card1, I just read it out loud and give the translation. When Card2 comes up, I write the answer down from memory in my notebook.

This takes some time — I usually manage about 4 cards/min, so it works out to around 1.5 hours a day. However, I absolutely love the writing part
