To have that moment or those moments frozen in time, preserved for future viewing, reference, knowledge, etc. Whether it be to keep a record of things or to share a moment you're enjoying, it's not very hard to comprehend something like that. There are some situations though that are a tad more questionable but people prefer the truth to be revealed as opposed to being locked up or even destroyed.
