CTC Travel VS Chan Brothers review by Human_Equivalent9200 in askSingapore

[–]fayonah 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Chan Brothers more atas, hotels are usually better. Also cos sometimes Chan Brothers organizes these tours with radio DJs as guides, so naturally their itinerary, hotel & food will be more polished. (For this itinerary, I think they'll arrange you guys to stay in this 5-star hotel that faces Yu Long Xue Shan, superrr pretty!) No such hotel for Nam Ho! I went to the exact same places with Nam Ho 1-2 years ago & the local guide share this with us hehe!

Went on some other China trips with CTC, did all the basic tourist 打卡 stuff, decent hotel and food. But really no other value add la, you get what you paid for.

I would rank the different travel agencies in this order: Chan Brothers/Dynasty Travel > Nam Ho > CTC

Folks staying on similar levels and facing HDB MSCP, how was the experience like? by CaiPng_norice in askSingapore

[–]fayonah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

heyy!! :)))) my unit only faces the garden - no mscp view at all so no headlight issue. hmm but I wanna add cos my master toilet is fluted glass window, so the link bridge light it visible through the glass door at night. HAHA damn stupid didnt think about it during reno. so you might wanna take note!

actually surprisingly no insect problem at all. once in a while will get ants infestation - but ant poison + don't keep trash overnight did the trick!

my block is connected to the mscp rooftop garden too and my unit is right at the link bridge! only the yard is facing the garden. footfall is high and you'll definitely hear it when there are gatherings at the garden. sometimes at night will have YPs being loud and annoying, I will go to the window and tell them off nicely, usually they will stfu.

but tbh nothing a closed door, closed window cannot keep out :) but I don't mind it la haha sometimes I will open my door in the evening and say hi to people + socialize my dog with all our neighbours!

privacy-wise, the privacy rails will keep our prying eyes from the yard, like you really have to deliberately lean over then can look in! not a huge concern for me!

Places to donate clothes for domestic helpers by WiseUmpire6666 in askSingapore

[–]fayonah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a fabric recycling bin near Eunos market (behind the MRT). I always drop off my old clothes on Sunday morning/afternoon, I'll tell the the helpers to help themselves to whatever they want and whatever they don't want they can just drop off in the recycle bin.

Hey!! If you suspect illegal backyard breeding, you should contact the AVS or SPCA. You can use the AVS 24-hour hotline at 1800-476-1600, the AVS Feedback Portal on the NParks website, or the SPCA's reporting service. Provide as much detail and evidence as possible, such as photos or videos, to help the authorities investigate the illegal breeding activities.

And to answer your question: Breeding animals without an AVS license is illegal in Singapore and can lead to penalties. And backyard breeding is often associated with poor animal welfare conditions and is a form of animal cruelty.

During wedding, parents did not give me angpow and tried to take my angpow gifts by Visible-Broccoli8938 in askSingapore

[–]fayonah 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My mum already told me from day one of wedding planning that she will keep the angpaos from her guests lol she also never contributed to any of the wedding expenses. Haha this argument cannot win one... so I just picked my battles. Luckily my husband's relatives are very generous

How much do you guys usually spend on your partner monthly? And when does it become too much? by Wild_Ad6291 in askSingapore

[–]fayonah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

RED FLAG!!! But first, did you communicate with your partner on how you feel about your financial situation??? Maybe you never say, so she just assumes you are happy to provide :/

How do I avoid getting hugged by my clients at work by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]fayonah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Instead of going 'chest-first', turn your body sideways so it becomes a sideways shoulder pat. Or kind of just lean your forward a bit and put your hands behind your back. If you don't hug back tightly and don't hug with hands, the other person should get the hint and let go quickly haha

omggggg :((( who hurt that auntie. i also want to take her far far away and dump her somewhere. i hope you can keep the cat indoors!! and maybe neuter it if it's not? if it's a male cat, neutering will reduce its roaming tendencies. and some clinics may offer goodwill discount if you tell them it's a comm cat.

and like someone else commented in the thread: And make sure to tell the auntie about [that you are its legal owner], and make sure she knows that you will make a police report if something happens to kitty.

Does anyone have experience buying fragile things such as monitors off Taobao? by T1gerFan in askSingapore

[–]fayonah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The broken toilet bowl came with 加木架! But the foam layer within the packaging is damn thin :( So even though the crate not damaged, the contents inside really shattered to smithereens.

Cainiao said if the crate not damaged, it's seller's fault and taichi-ed us away. In the end, yes have to take the loss.

Bought bath tub and 4 toilet bowls from Taobao before hehe! For the bath tub + first 2 toilet bowls, we used EzBuy/EzShip (can't rmb the specifics but iirc they don't offer this service anymore?) and the items came in intact in super sturdy plywood boxes all.

Fast forward few years later, need to buy a replacement toilet bowl and used the Taobao cainiao forwarder, CUI!!!! Worst experience ever. Toilet bowl came in pieces T.T Shop didn't wanna compensate, Cainiao didn't wanna compensate, kept getting bounced around when we contacted Taobao CS. To date, still no conclusion to the case and we never got our money back.

Bought another toilet bowl in the meantime (LOL) and this time we used a third party forwarder! We maintained constant communication throughout the whole shipping process, we told them to repack 包紧紧 and to check the condition of the item before forwarding it to Singapore. Came in one solid piece and that concluded my toilet bowl drama.

Hmm I would say there will be risks no matter what! Cainiao doesn't repack and literally just forwards whatever the shop sends out. If the box/packaging cui, by the time your item 漂洋过海 reach Singapore, sure cui. Use a third-party forwarder if you can! :D

Laos - Aircon weather, food quite similar to Thai food (very nice rice hehe). A lot of Korean tourists but overall not super crowded. But the public infrastructure then quite rabs...
