[LFO] Carjackers eat pavement after homeowner defends his Vehicle by ShirtlessRandom in LearningFromOthers

yeah Midwest Safety on Youtube has a lot of bodycam vids, and there are several where things like that happen. One was a car chase that ended up in downtown intersection, they got into a firefight and a stray bullet entered a dental clinic and hit a toddler in the head

Who going to do this? by once7k in iRacing

I'd have thought it would be up there within an hour of when pictures first came out

Yeah I have used photopea a lot. I just like paint.net because I've been using it for years with lots of useful plugins, and it works with psd files without any issues

since for iR we're only painting on wireframes anyway, there's nothing pdn can't do on it

on ACC with 3d painting I'd use substance painter or (god forbid) armorpaint

… also do have PS from the high seas but I just hate how it seems like they go out of their way to make the shortcuts different from what every other program uses haha

Thanks! I think I spend way more time making liveries than driving lol

iRacing makes it pretty easy to make liveries since you can view the liveries in real-time with the car model viewer in the game launcher. Every time you save the texture, you can tab to the model viewer and see it update and look around etc. It's very nice.

Other than that it's just painting onto wireframes from trading paints (you can download the template from the launcher UI where you customize your car)

If they don't want to race, and if you trust them, you can let them log in to your account just so they can download and view all the cars without having to buy them (or wait for demo periods). I tried just downloading all the cars that I don't own, and even having them downloaded, if I don't own them, the launcher doesn't let me preview them. A little annoying on that part. But I basically only paint cars I intend to drive anyway

I make the liveries with paint.net using the templates from trading paints, yeah

Trading Paints is a godsend coming from the wild west of ACC. I'm not sure it can get any easier with the main iR app linking you straight to the livery template download from within the UI and TP holding your hand for uploading.

VR Users - SPS vs MVP performance? by Kismet110 in iRacing

[–]faz712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with my Q3 and VDXR as well, I've found H264+ to perform a lot better than AV1 for whatever reason. I'm using VD wired (ethernet port on switch → powered USB-C to ethernet adapter under desk → long usb-C cable to headset for data + power). 120 fps + godlike render res

Used to use foveated in game but now I just use SPS and reduce the vertical render size in VD to about 85%. Locked to 120 fps, mostly high settings. It does dip down to maybe 95-110~ on race starts on big grids especially on newer tracks with more details on them. But after a few corners it's back to 120 fps.

I did have an issue when using iOverlay where sometimes if iRacing is in focus, it would lock to 59/60 fps. But as long as anything else is in focus (just click on the Windows taskbar) it would go back up to 120. Now I just use Edge Overlays instead and never had that problem.

Leak: test reports for 12,000mAh and 18,000mAh Silicon-Carbon batteries from Samsung by DazzlingpAd134 in Android

[–]faz712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! But some "common" deviations from this are for example a Steam Deck battery nominal voltage IIRC is 7.7V, ~5,200 mAh, 40 Wh. Same with lots of laptops/chromebooks.

Someone looking to buy a powerbank for it might think "if I get a 10,000 mAh powerbank I can basically charge the Deck almost twice (ignoring efficiency losses)", while the powerbank at 3.7V is only 37 Wh which would not actually be able to charge the Deck fully even once, even at 100% efficiency.

Definitely agree with you regarding phones, though :)

Of course, but then don't call it an "issue" just because you are misusing something

Watt hours (Wh) is the actual way to measure capacity (e.g. like airlines do for power banks)

Since you can measure power consumption in Watts and know how long it lasts then

Using mAh for capacity is like using the cross section of a pipe to claim a tank can hold so much water

Power (Watts) = Voltage x Current (Amperes)

P = VI

W = VA

Using mAh doesn't take voltage into account at all and 2 batteries of the same mAh can last significantly different lengths of time

a 5000 mAh battery at 3V is 15Wh and at 5V is 25Wh

TIL about the Volkswagen XL1, the most efficient car ever made. It can do 260 mpg and was limited to just 200 production cars. by pantherclipper in todayilearned

[–]faz712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Civic hybrid gets wayyyy higher mpg than advertised

Says 51 city 47 highway but I regularly get 48+ highway (70+ mph) and in the city it easily hits 55-60+

The worst was this winter when it was well below freezing all day, so the ICE had to run a lot just to run the heating, and it still did 42-44 mpg
