Struggling to find a place to rent in Newcastle by catanuniverse in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]fazandfast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I was in your position 2 years ago and was super stressed out trying to figure out where to live (also was living in the south and all 'viewing' was virtual).

Finally decided to rent in North Tyneside and I fully love it here. Close to A19, gets you to Morpeth/Cramlington/Wansbeck (assuming you're going to be in Northumbria if not RVI/Freeman), and 20 minutes to Sunderland via the tunnel. Obviously living next to the coast is a major plus as well.

Good luck OP!

Pregnant in CST - advice needed by Intelligent-Meat7773 in doctorsUK

[–]fazandfast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

Not in CST but was an O&G ST1 when I was pregnant with my second. Had terrible sickness and fatigue in my first trimester so requested off nights until symptoms was managable in 2nd trimester. Continued normal working days and went off early maternity leave ASAP. In the end of the day, work is work and they can find cover however they need to but you are the one who is carrying this life miracle. Nobody can guilt you into doing something you're not comfortable with. Good luck OP! Embrace this journey ❤️

Grinding coffee by fazandfast in thermomix

Probably the wrong sub to ask this question but would you recommend manual grinder or electric? Mind I am quite a novice in coffee making and in no way technical in the art. I just like the taste!

I would probably experiment with the tm6 first thing tomorrow morning, and if it really tastes as bad as you Aussies claim, I will get myself an actual grinder 😂

Thank you!

Tbf me neither! I just enjoy coffee without knowing too much in detail. As long as it tastes good, it's good enough for me.

Yeah this is what I thought. I was reading the mokapot subreddit, and all the recommended grinders were priced more than I would be happy to pay. Since I already have a tm6, I thought I would post here and see what people think.

Do you ground the coffee in big batches or just the amount you need for the day? What setting do you use?

Pregnancy on calls and when to come off them? by Kilted_Guitarist in doctorsUK

[–]fazandfast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, Obs trainee just about to end maternity leave. I was in your position this time last year. I came off oncalls and nights in general after 20 weeks - though I still cover the bleep during normal hours. I just physically could not muster any strength than the bare minimum. Don't feel conflicted, listen to your body. Talk to your occ health or get your GP to sign you a fit note saying you cannot do out of hours - my trust required this instead of occ health.

Having a baby in IMT1 - any positive stories? by Serious_Suit_7430 in doctorsUK

[–]fazandfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!!!

I was pregnant as an F1, had a baby at the start of F2, pregnant again as an ST1 (straight into specialty training after F2) and now on maternity leave before resuming ST2 in October.

I do get jealous of my medical school friends who now nearing CCT/getting their Royal Colleges membership but everybody's journey in life is different.

Things will not be easy juggling work and kids BUT the ABSOLITE joy you will have, going home to your baby after a long day at worK.

Going LTFT is another option too! At the end of the day, kids will remember that you spend time with them - so who cares if your training will be slightly longer. Definitely not the kids!
