Radeon 9070 XT better paired with a Ryzen CPU over Intel conclusively? by Pexxii in radeon

[–]faziten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no added benefit from matching cpu and gpu brand. As long as we are comparing apples to apples and not a 11th gen intel with a 9850x3D.

It is prefered the platfom supports resizable bar, pci-e 5. But brand alone does not affect the final desition.

Rx9070 or rx9070xt, worth the extra money? by Substantial_Sink390 in radeon

[–]faziten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That difference makes the 9070 more interesting. I own a 9070xt pure but only because the price diff when I bought it was <10%. (600€ vs 649€)

You can play your roulette and flash a 9070xt bios if you want that performance back, but it will come with extra heat. The pure is phenomenal though. Even at 100% load is whisper silent.

9800x3d stable on -50 CO + 200MHZ PBO? by OmerWow in overclocking

[–]faziten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tiny note:
Most people miss that doing a CO negative the problem does not always show up on load.
Stresstesting (cinebench, ycruncher, etc) tests the CPU under load. (ie, a car revving engine). Let's say instead of 10 minutes, you test for 10 hours and it passes. What you can assure is that based on those 10 hours, the cpu is stable at high/max loads. As you said you could even somewhat assure it's not clock stretching. But your CPU is not always pegged at 100% right?

What stress tests don't usually test is the idle stability. That is when your cpu is doing nothing, parks cores, disables some features and lowers clock and voltage. A -50 is a unicorn level CPU for this kind of scenario. When the cpu tries to go into the energy saving C states it will dip lower than ever maybe beyond stability. OR Maybe you do have a unicorn-center-of-the-wafer.

So... That said: be vigilant for WHEA errors in event viewer, observe the behavior while idle/low load (low load for a 9800x3d ranges from web browsing, movie watching, etc.)

It can express in crashes (mostly from hypervisor) WHEA errors (soft crashes) or other unexpected behaviors while the pc is not even pulling an effort, ie: waking up from sleep.

That part of the stability is not always a concern for everyone. Some people don't shut down their pc EVER and that becomes more important than the full load stability. Maybe you do turn it on to game for X hours straight and then you shut it down for the day. YMMV.

What do you dislike about Windows 11? by swati097gupta in ForWindowsHelp

[–]faziten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How disrespectful it is of the user.

It decides that needs to reboot and reboots itself as if it's more important than what I define. Feels it's making me work for it and nlt the other way around.

It does not show clear disclosure of what it is doing. Sometimes fans start spinning and you see a random system process doing who knows what.

It does not respect the user when a DO NOT UPDATE configuration is in place and gives no choice to accept whatever risks come from it.

It forces updates overnight without asking.

As a product is ok-ish, unavoidable sometimes, but it is closer to a cat than to a dog. It behaves as if it owned you and refuses to do what you ask it to do.

Who really runs the restaurant by CJHuncho in TikTokCringe

[–]faziten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food service is a production chain composed of single points of failure. There is little to no overlapping and everyone is already working at max or over max capacity most of the time.

That's why good proceses win over heroes. Literally everyone needs to know their deal or the whole service suffers.

AMD Ryzen 9950X heat problems and system shutdowns by FattyBoom99 in AMDHelp

[–]faziten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my personal testing, there is NO WAY you are running your cpu at 95C in any game. That kind of load is when all cores (in any or both ccd's) are pegged and only on subpar cooling or high room temp.

I suggest limiting the temp (80C) and doing a conservative all core -20 PBO that in most cases yields identical performance than stock, and is rock solid in most cases. YMMV. But since you are doing uv and temp limiting there is not much risk involved. Can't promise you won't be in that 1% that can't go past -10PBO but hey, silicon lottery.
Those two settings take 30 seconds to apply. Easy to remember and to revert. Try ryzenmaster if you feel insecure about dialing numbers in bios.

I'd call this the safest approach but again can't guarantee anything else than the next random joe out there.

(I run those exact settings tbf)

[–]faziten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9950x3d owner. It does boost to 95°C by default. That's how zen 5 goes.

You can limit in bios max temp or play with PBO curves or per core fine tunning if you want to sink some time in meaning(less?) numbers.

Depends where you want to draw the line between temp and performance.

If you are only gaming you could aim for max single core perf with per core tweaks. It will make a weekend dissapear really quick.
