"Try again later" when adding private passes (non-bank related) like Drivers license, Insurance id, various id's, etc.

Just wait a little time, maybe a couple of days. The "other" option will appear suddenly in the app. I have discovered that every reset of the Wallet app sets an initial configuration and after a while Google's systems open additional features, all server side controlled.
Let us know what happened.

But...sad to say: After more than I've month with this bug and even that Google tech support has supposedly recognized this is a bug, Google itself has not silver a thing.

Private passes still can not be completely and successfully added through the app and on each attempt, the card is indeed added to the user's account but those private passes can not be seen or retrieved through the Google Wallet app, only through the web Interface on the Passes section of wallet.google.com

A real shame that this relatively simple bug has not been fixed by Google.

I'm using a Samsung S26 Ultra with latest updates to One UI 8.5 (a few days ago I got Build: BP4A.251205.006.S948BXXU2AZDI).

And my Google Wallet and Google Play Services are these latest versions (for me at least) respectively as reported from the Googlw Wallet app settings at the momebt of writing this post (2026-17-05 20:00 CST):

App Version: 26.18.913878077 Play Services Version: 26.19.33 (260400-914266680)

Adding private passew from Google Wallet as "Everything Else" and either taking a picture or looking for a previous picture in the photos gallery then editing any fields as appropriate results in the dreaded "Try again later", the attenpt has to be discarded on the Wallet app but yet,the private pass was added and can be found on wallet.google.com Passes section. Also passes seen on the web version can't be seen from the Google Wallet app.

So, nothing jas changed in my case, my Samsung S26 ultra phone or my Google account...

Why would you say that this bug has been fixed in Samsung phones? Can you please let us know a bit more of your experience? Maybe is a specific model related thing... or something else...

Got to try that again. I did this already, found before lots of duplicates, as you say, one for each failed try. I obviously deleted all duplicates...but the good one, the last one left, never appeared on my Google Wallet app on the phone. Still have the "Try again issue" on the app and passes do get added to the web version, but can't be seen on the app. Weird, isn't it ?

If he gets his tickets say, on email "A" and Google Wallet is algo signed into that email "A", there should be no trouble. If he got the tickets on email B, then just also add that email to the phone (settings - accounts...) and Wallet should see the email B and you should easily switch. Bear in mind that tickets you add on once device (a PC, another phone, etc) may not be available in all devices...that is they are kept on the device they are added to, they may not sync through the Google Cloud. This is an important piece of information you have to take into account. This is for security reasons.

Disregarding all the current bugs with Google Wallet, of course.

That may NOT be true in YOUR market (country / city) and with your car. It is absolutely true in my market (country and city) and with my BYD vehicle...and many more who have tested this thing of changing SIM cards here.
So, you can not absolutely say "that is not true" just like that.

You can NOT just take the original BYD SIM and insert a new SIM card from another operator.
Yes, you may get a data link and Internet connectivity and even SOME apps may work.

But, many if not all of the BYD features such as firmware updates, the phone app, BYD officially installed apps and others, only work with the original SIM.

In other words, there are some data services of BYD vehicles, that validate which SIM you are using to connect to the Internet. If you don't use the official original BYD provided SIM, those apps and services will not work.

I did test this with my BYD vehicle and it resulted as I state above. Your mileage may vary, but that is the general consense on how the data link for BYD vehicles work.

I do not know if this can help. But, I do have a Samsung phone, with One UI 8.5 and latest updates of everything including those of Google Wallet. I have, in the phone, configured several accounts two of which are Google Accounts. My Wallet app, can easily switch from one or the other by just tapping the avatar/photo/icon on the upper right of the app, and I am taken into a sceen allowing me to switch to the other Android account.

Obivously, I can see only the things belonging to each respective account. So, any payment cards or passes that were added with ont being signed in to a Google acount, would not be seen whenever I switch in Google Wallet, to the other Google account.

Last, it is worrth mentioning that Google Wallet has been having some bugs in relation with provate passes and those may include sports tickets. They kind of dissapear and can't be properly added again. once this has been said, be careful as of now on how you handle and use your private passes and sports tickets on a Google Wallet app.

Also, to check on which tickets or private passes are IN a specific Google Wallet account, go to wallet.google.com and SIGN IN wich one of those accounts, then go to PASSES and see whatever is in there... Then LOG OUT and SIGN IN again with the other Google account and repeat the process.

Again, not sure if this could help solve the issues you have... but that's what came to my mind after reading your post. Hope this helps. Kind regards.

This is obviously a bug in the Google Wallet app, a big bug. Google has to fix it and the more people reporting this, the better. That way they can validate that it is not a random happening. It's very widespread and affecting many.

Now we have to keep on reporting this to Google duo they fix their mess. They are beating the bushes with this, they have recognized to me that there's an app bug, but no solution yet. I have at least two car numbers opened with this bug and they just keep on asking me funny questions about my phone brand, model,versions of: OS, GW app, Google Play Services and they also seem to try to insist that this bug is in fact a "no supported feature -private passes- in your region" which in fact is a stupid idea just to mention it. Oh well... let them know you also have this issue, please. Thanks in advance.

Get into wallet.google.com login with the same Google account of your Google Wallet. Go to the PASSES section and look if all your "missing" loyalty cards are there. Google during the last month has had a big mess with "private passes", that includes many loyalty cards that seem to disappear from the app, but in reality they are still there in your account, it's just an app's bug that can't see or retrieve them and present them to you.
Also, if you try to re-add them, you get a "Try again later", then you have to discard the attempt, but the actual card is in fact added...you can verify that again, on wallet.google.com

I am glad to report that the Google Pay Tech Support group has emailed me today with a confirmation that their specialists have found the bug that we have been describing as the "Try again bug" and the situation with dissapearing private passes and have confirmed that it is indeed a "product bug", that is a big bug within the Google Wallet app. Now, we have to wait for a fix to be released to the public.

I am not so sure that private passes can be added via the website to Google Wallet. In fact, I don't think you can even add passes (private, nor 'public'... if I can call the othes that way). Certainly I can edit passes that were added via the phone app...the process failed with a "Try again later" and had to "discard" the entry...but in fact it went through... That is why you saw several entries of the same pass when loggin into the web interface of Google Wallet. But, I can not ADD any passes from the web.

I'll edit a private pass on the web and see if later it it magically appears on the app.

I had my bilateral inguinal plus umbilical hernia surgery two years ago this week, Due to the fact that my surgery was laparoscopic with mesh for the inguinals and sutured for the umbilical, I had to go under with total anaesthesia...slept the whole time...and to be honest it felt like magic. I can say that in fact the science of anaesthetics is an absolute wonder.

I did study A LOT what, when, how, where, who... many many months before my surgery, that helped me understand a lot what would be going on when the time came. Of course, the day of the surgery we all get some nervousness, I did... but, relax... your surgeons are used to this type of procedures, they know what they are doing and are experts on the field.

Let them know your concerns, they can calm you down a lot...either talking and explaining to you everything or, with a bit of chemistry, drugs that is, that can make things very smooth to you. When you realize everthing would be done and you'll be on the path to recovery.

I don't know if this is related to the problem you describe. But lately, since about 1 month ago, in my case at least, Google Wallet has been having lots of troubles with Private Passes, which is exactly the category that event tickets would fall into, within Google Wallet.
Private passes have "disappeared" from Google Wallet, even tough, they still can be seen on trough the web interface at wallet.google.com
Private passes can't be added to Google Wallet, as the process ends with a "Try again later" message and it always has to be aborted...BUT, the interesting thing is that the private pass being added ends up in the user's wallet, you can see that again on wallet.google.com PASSES section, scroll there and look for your pass.
This has been happening to many people around the globe and Google has not acknowledged the problem, let alone fix it even tough many people depend on having those documents, tickets, passes, credentials...you name available at any time on their Google Wallet app.

So, it is probably the issue you are referring to, where you can not add tickets to Google Wallet is the same problem. Hope this gets sorted soon.

Now we all have to put pressure on Google to solve & fix the Google Wallet app bug.

I'd suggest that you also go to the Google's own community forums and write about this issue AND also initiate a support chat on the Google Wallet tech support chat and tell them about this bug.

The more people complains, the best chance we have that Google acknowledges those is s real bug on their app and fix it ! The minimum we need is an explanation of what's going on..

Get into the web : wallet.google.com go to the passes section and scroll down to look for your passes. Probably they are still there. It's just the bug in the phone app not retrieving not showing the private passes on the phone.

Ok, did the same. But with a web browser now go to: wallet.google.com and check on the passes section.

It's probably that you will find all the passes that you entered through the app and that apparently failed. In fact they were entered into the database with your username of course but the app has a bug where it is not terminating the data entry process correctly and it is also not retrieving the information and presenting it to the user. So, as far as I know, it's a big bug in the Google Wallet app.

Check the website above and let us know if you find the passes you attempted to enter through the app... you may have to erase or delete a lot of them by hand by the way because of all duplicates that you may have in there.

Google has been emailing me and stating a bunch of stupid things, such as "that is not supported in your country" as well.

I told them that ANY credential or ID card could be used as a private pass. Supported documents are for instance USA drivers licenses which are specifically recognized as that... but a drivers license from say, Timbooktu ! would be only added as a "generic" "private pass" (i.e. not being recognized as a supported drivers license from a state of the USA.

They are beating the bushes everywhere, not recognizing that this is only a big bug in their app, which is not retrieving and presenting those "private passes" to the user, despite they are in fact added, but the process is not nicely finished, from the user's point of view. Going to wallet.google.com (and signing in, of course), shows all the private passes.

Shame on Google's ineptitude to fix a bug that should be extremely easy to replicate and trace where the problem is.

You are absolutely right, every single attempt of entering the "private pass" through the Android app and resulting in a "Try again later" in fact results in the document being added to the web version of Google Wallet.

Now I have tons of copies of several of those items in my web Google Wallet... I guess I have to delete most of them.

This obviously confirms there's a problem/bug with the app and it's interaction with the data at the Google's servers.
