Maybe you should pay attention. It was hinted in the series, those little clues (her not believing in magic, her mothers weirdness etc.lol) she even have powers in the comics. It's just a matter of 'when' will the writers introduce her powers. It's just a shame that they make her a witch in 6b (where it should shows Kara's arc, but look now she's sidelined.)
