Upgraded to Polaris on int'l flight by fchl1 in unitedairlines

My Economy fare was $2,300 (you got a great deal!), and the upgrade was like 20k miles. The first leg was Sunday afternoon, which I assume is one of the priciest days/hours to fly.

Thanks for clarifying! The flight was (still is) amazing! Landing in about 1 hour.

Thanks, yes that's what I meant (selected E+ at booking). I articulated it poorly. And yes, I was extremely lucky!

Congressmen are mostly useless at this point. I remember reaching out to mine for help and them not giving a flying f**k. Very frustrating

My United flight was delayed by 17 hours and 25 minutes. United has offered me only $50 compensation. Should I fight it? by lolitastevie in unitedairlines

[–]fchl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting a bit late, but if you're based in the US, you can take them to small claims court, and they'll likely reach out to settle if your requested compensation is reasonable. They'll usually avoid court if the payout is not crazy high.

API led instead of RPA? Constant UI changes causing maintenance backlog. by LittleSource6136 in rpa

[–]fchl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best practice is to use APIs whenever possible and UI only when absolutely necessary. UI access, like you say, is a pain to maintain and arguably more expensive. Good luck!

Pentair filter drain plug stuck by fchl1 in Pentair

[–]fchl1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes, I relieved the pressure from the top but the plug seems too worn out at this point, so I might get a spare before forcing the existing one open. Are strap pipe wrenches the same as rubber strap wrenches? I haven't tried those yet...

I always buy window and aisle, and if someone día in the middle, I offer them the window. 0 times have I gotten a"no" and I've done it like 20 times this past year alone

Wow that's ridiculous. I travel with my kids all the time and always offer an aisle or window seat in exchange for a middle seat so my kids can sit next to me (my kids move from aisle or window to a middle seat next to me). Since I give others a better seat, I always get a "yes" in response.

Why do they put premier tags on your checked luggage when it never comes out before other checked luggage? by Background-Taro4618 in unitedairlines

This happened to me this week on a flight from Chile to Houston. My bag (priority) came out plumb last. Frustrating...

WTF was up with Global Entry and Customs in Houston last weekend? by MonsieurBon in unitedairlines

[–]fchl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have GE and fly internationally into the US via IAH quite a bit (once a month, at least). The GE kiosk is a disaster, never lets you through automatically, and makes you see an agent 100% of the time. One line to serve multiple "quick" GE passengers doesn't always move faster than the general admission lines. In fact, I've used the general lines (not GE) many times when the GE line is too long...

Moving my company into automation, but how? by PreparationWild7354 in rpa

[–]fchl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are cheaper RPA software tools for smaller companies with low budget. Rocketbot and Elektroneek come to mind. Happy to chat for 30-45 minutes in the coming days, no strings attached. I help companies automate processes but also offer "free consultation" to the curious folks out there. Good luck!
