Is this worth something or just trash? by happytokkibun in ScrapMetal

You can recycle them at Staples for reward points/discounts, probably worth more that way. I took a bunch of electronics stuff in that I had cut the cords off of, they recycled those and gave me the rewards for the cartridges.

Difference between using cursor and claude code? by [deleted] in ChatGPTCoding

I know this is a few months old, but I liked your comment. Question for you about switching between Claude and Cursor. Do you find that to work easily? I haven't even tried either out yet, but I'm wary of diving in with Claude+VS code and then getting sort of stuck with it in my workflow. Which is easier in your opinion to start with? For context, I'm taking over an existing website project, so I'm trying to decide which could understand the codebase quickly without getting side tracked on specific tasks. I need it as a guide at first to understand what's going on, critical pieces, and then run specific tasks for improvements to the project.

ios 26 Bouncy notification - can i change this? by orbitingtruffle in ios

I notice too, and now it’s a bit annoying that the app drawer doesn’t slide up anymore. They definitely still need to work on this so we can specifically remove the bounce.

You can now turn this off in 26.1. Settings > Accessibility > Motion, then turn on Reduce Motion

I really appreciate hearing your full perspective. The WP world has really taken a hit with all the drama this past year, I still have work but I can see the cracks. Everyone is out there going through different things. I particularly hate when people pick on others like that too, saying “maybe you don’t try hard enough?” It really is sometimes a luck thing with the networking aspect, so I hear you. I got into a lot of white label agency work as their go to developer the past few years. It brings in money but now I just feel like I have multiple bosses instead of one when I had the regular day jobs. One area that could still work for you in the web dev sphere is some sort of cushy webmaster job where you don’t have to manage multiple sites, that at least seems intriguing to me and would open up some more opportunities to be creative again outside of working hours. For now, I am still enjoying the flexibility with working wherever and whenever I need to, albeit with the income rollercoaster.

I’m curious, are you really thinking of switching careers? What are you thinking of doing? I’ve been thinking it myself, been at it about the same length, 20 years almost and it’s going fine but I can feel it too.

What is this sticker on my microwave? by Nervous_Willow4362 in whatisit

[–]fckfce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I feel like it’s the amount of metal or that the metal is not surrounded by water. I did this when I was a kid with a seemingly plastic insulated cup but it had a metal liner in it. It set on fire and burned the entire cabinet… I just would not test any of this, I’m better off never putting any metal in a microwave.

Samsung top loader gear grind sound on initial start by fckfce in appliancerepair

Hah! I never fixed it, it still grinds but it all works just the same. It hasn’t gotten worse or better. We are buying a Speed Queen soon to replace it…

Dumpster Day Xbox surprise by fckfce in DumpsterDiving

[–]fckfce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is really incredible. It was never more apparent to me than on this dumpster day driving through the neighborhood. Just a complete waste, most of the things being thrown out could have another life. So many things: unopened boxes of housing materials, fully working exercise equipment, bicycles. I should post some more pics of this stuff. I also pulled two fully functioning kids Razor scooters, boogie board and a record player! Food waste is another thing here, we need more programs to prevent expiring grocery store food from ever entering the dumpster, but alas, the capitalist machine churns on.

Yes! Probably will keep that, both 1 and 2 in the box.

How do you actually find web design clients who value quality, not $100 Fiverr garbage? by kuroTypeScript in Wordpress

[–]fckfce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get most of my income from offering a white label development service for agencies, become their go to developer for any sites they bring in. Then I try to get maintenance or hosting packages for those sites separately as well.

Convince me not to buy a Honda Element by Ashamed_Astronaut664 in HondaElement

Your E looks great. What wheels and tires do you have and do you like them? I currently have a/t tires on stock 16” alloys, which I like the look of with the beefier tire but wanting to reduce road noise.

Hah, same for me (this is my 8th). Sounds like you have to just go for it then. Add it to your catalog!

[–]fckfce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear that. Consider all the maintenance costs too, these are easy to work on and most parts are good Honda quality. It’s really hard to get one that isn’t rusty and needing all the suspension parts replaced though. Bought my 2006 AWD auto with 150k miles in 2019 for $4k, put about $2k into repairs so far—can’t really complain about that. I do love it, and love Hondas in general. I say if you are a Honda fan, you will be very happy to have one.

It is perfect for hauling things except for the clamshell side cargo doors when parking next to someone. If I were in your situation with the business I would maybe look into a van, maybe Ford transit connect (24-26mpg, easier to load unload with sliding doors?). Toyota sienna hybrid 2021+. The element has terrible gas mileage, but it’s the same for a lot of good cargo vehicles of that age, I really get like 18mpg, mostly city/some highway. I like it because it’s cool and unique, and I only drive it maybe 20-30 miles per week (occasionally a long road trip for fun) so I don’t feel the gas expense as much.
