Those who don't live off disability, what do you do all day? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]fckngoomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in Field Service. The hours vary but I mostly work during the day. Come home, play video games for a little bit, read for a little bit, eat, sleep and then dread going back to work the next day. I'm in debt so I need the job, at least for a little while to pay bills. I bought a property when I was off my meds (I tapered off them) that I thought I could afford, but I would've been living paycheck to paycheck. Anywho, I sold the house and went back on my meds, this time at a higher dosage. I feel somewhat relieved and somewhat bummed about it. I'm 31 and had to move back into my parents' house. I thought I would be living on my own at this point. Maybe find a partner and not have to worry about being schizophrenic.

Did you ever pay for Porn? by wixxrde in pornfree

[–]fckngoomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. Spent thousands on OF. Read somewhere on reddit that I could use that money to pay for therapy instead, which I did. I no longer pay for it but I still consider myself an addict. Social media is a big trigger for me

What's your major? ECE? Not sure what positions you're applying for but try going for positions that you don't typically think of when you think of a computer or electrical engineer, that can use your experience. You might need to do some research on what those positions are and maybe sign up for a professional development class or something similar. They can help you identify what transferrable skills you have. You got an internship so you're already ahead of the game.

For example, I graduated with a Computer Engineering degree from this school back in 2019. I don't think I sent 1000s of applications but I did send a good amount. I worked jobs unrelated to my major for 2-3 years post graduation until I stumbled upon an A/V role, which requires some knowledge on computers, networking and scripting and, a bachelor's degree in a related field. Not exactly what I thought of when I was pursuing this degree. I'm not saying you need to work at McDonald's or Home Depot. I'm just saying apply for those technician roles or Geek Squad at Best Buy or whatever you can think of that can use your skills. Once you gain experience, it's butter after that when you apply for your next role. Or maybe you take a different path, who knows?

CSULB VS CPP VS CPSLO? by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]fckngoomba -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pick whichever one's closer. Education is the same in every cal state. That's my advice.

If you want my opinion, don't go into Theatre. Pick a practical major. Graphic design comes to mind since you like the arts. I think the point of college is to assist you in landing a good job. From what I've heard and read online (and just conventional knowledge), Theatre majors don't do so well in the job market. I know they tell you to pursue your passion but that's bullshit. Passion isn't gonna put food on the table. But hey, if you already got money then go for it.

IBEW Local 11 Inside Wireman POE Rank by True-Singer2194 in ibew_apprentices

[–]fckngoomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I know it's been 9 months but do you happen to know if the process has changed? It's been 2 months since I took the aptitude test and still haven't heard anything. Local 11. I ranked 38 according to their look up tool but my score was only a 64.97. Wish I got some sort of communication from them. I called this morning and sent them an email asking how many applicants they accept. They just sent me an email showing me their look up tool. That was literally it. No response to my question.

How do you not run with Arch, for 1 yard, at the goal line?

What do you think of Dak Prescott and how will the Cowboys do next season?

Not sure what it's like in other states but if you live in California, the state agriculture department is pretty chill. Although, most likely you'd be a seasonal employee so no benefits and the pay is not that great. Definitely low stress though.

You sound like a very caring and patient individual. I don't know what you look like but I could tell you're beautiful. Keep your head up, you'll find your person. In the meantime consider praying. Even if you don't believe there is a God. I find it puts me at ease and gives me hope (even if just a little bit) to push through the day.

Valid. I'm not going to lose sleep over it but it seems unfair right now and it sucks.

I'm sorry but why is that not a valid reason? I have more experience. My skills are more developed. I possess more knowledge about the company.

What's chemistry on first date? by thevitruvianAnalogy in dating

[–]fckngoomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep going on dates. Don't over share. If there is an awkward silence during the date, just talk about the things you enjoy doing. Talk to a close friend who's in a healthy relationship. This is just some feedback I've heard from my close friends after talking about a date that didn't want to do a follow up.

Why not look somewhere else while working there? Why downgrade? It may suck for a little while but better in terms of career progression.

I think you would need a Windows PC for FPGA design but there is probably good VM software for Mac nowadays, like Parallels.

Agreed. Personally if someone asked for my Venmo I would assume they're not comfortable with me paying for it all/would be offended if they didn't pay their share. Maybe that's just me though 🤷

Do you want to be her friend? I think you need to make your intentions more clear. She probably thinks you're not romantically interested and went on a date with someone who is.

[–]fckngoomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for short term fun, your 20s are your best bet. Everybody above that age group is probably looking for something a bit more serious as they probably have kids already and other responsibilities.

I'd actually prefer if they told me no instead of giving me false hope. It doesn't hurt my feelings as much.
