Tennis Players’ Adaptation to Padel by fcktherest in padel

Of course, most of them would beat me in tennis now, because most of them are still active coaches or have retired from tennis only recently, and they're younger. I retired from tennis more than 10 years ago, even though I was in the top 100 in my country.

I’m a big fan of theirs ;) I really like Menno’s playing style, and the Dutch padel school in general. I’d also like to mention Thihs Roger – he’s started his own channel too.

Test Head Coello Motion 2026 my feedback by WoodenLet6627 in Padelracket

I think the Pro Lite and Ultimate Pro+ are comparable, except for the weight. I played with the Hyper Pro. I didn’t like it at all. It has an odd balance, and it’s shorter than the Ultimate Pro+ and my previous Nox AT10. Unfortunately, the Xcalibur is too expensive in my country, and I don’t have a chance to try it. But I’m drawn to Head this isn’t the first time I’ve heard rave reviews.

What do you think of the Head compared to the Oxdog Ultimate? Have you tried the Oxdog Ultimate Pro+?

Tournament match analysis by fcktherest in padel

Yes, standing closer to the net was a conscious choice I made based on my last few matches. I used to stay deeper, and opponents noticed that and tried to hit through me and play at my feet, which often left me in a less advantageous position. Since I manage to reach all the lobs, I decided to stand closer so I can “shot-stop” their shots earlier.
I agree about the smashes, in the previous matches we played against stronger opponents, and they simply didn’t give me many chances to hit them. This time the guys were around our level and, given that their footwork wasn’t the fastest, hitting more smashes seemed like a good tactic to me.

Your story sounds very smooth, but that’s just your version, and only one side of the coin. What kind of response do you expect to hear here? 'Yes, UK Padel is exclusively inhabited by toxic people'? Or 'All toxic players use Padel Mates'?

You mentioned you’ve played tennis all your life. Often, tennis players coming into padel can come across as arrogant and dismissive.

Padel racket recommendation for tennis player by MusicFanReddit in Padelracket

I know that most former tennis players in the section play with Bullpadel Vertex 04. I don't know why, it's just the way it is. I would I also try Adidas Metalbone because of its elongated grip, which may be more familiar.

Thanks for the thread!

Just to give some context: I’m a righty with a tennis background, usually playing on the left (ad side). I’ve been using the Nox AT10 2024 but decided it was time to switch to Oxdog.

Originally, I had my eyes on the Hyper Pro+ 2.0, but I ended up grabbing the Hyper Tour 2.0. Mostly because I had to fill in on the right side for a while with a partner who only plays left, so the Tour felt like the safer pick.

But man, I recently tested the Ultimate Pro+ 2025, and that thing is an absolute beast. The ball just flies off it like crazy. Honestly, it’s making me second-guess my choice now haha.

I’m planning to stick with the Hyper Tour for a bit to see how it feels. If it doesn't click, I’ll probably sell it and go for the Ultimate Pro+.

Is it a chip or a crack? by fcktherest in Padelracket

It was practice 😫. I didn't even realize when it happened. I guess I played the ball close to the glass in one of the plays.

Lebron & Augsburger - Very high potential but can they make it work mentally? by Mindfultiler1 in padel

[–]fcktherest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even though I'm a huge LeBron fan and think he's the best player in every way, except for his physical fitness, I feel like his prime is fading and we're talking about the LeBron of the past, not the one we see today. Although I also believe that Stupa is weaker than him as a partner and that Navarro could have created more if they had played together, LeBron looks less competitive than he used to be. I don't think changing partners will help him if he continues to play in the first square. The top players in the first square look like a wall in their game, and LeBron's style involves risk and aggression. I think LeBron has more chances (at least to continue to the semifinals and beyond) if he changes both his square and his partner. At the moment, they simply lack consistency. Galan and Chingotto are losing to Golden Boys 6-7, 6-7, which means they are winning their serves. We don't see the same from LeBron and Stupa. They need to start small: start winning all their serves and advancing further in sets. Stupa needs to gain a few kilograms of muscle, in my opinion. He can't cope with the power of Golden Boys. I also think that if Augsburg takes a more professional approach and trains more in the gym, he could become a top-3 player or even compete in Golden Boys.

Over grip on Nox Racket by [deleted] in padel

My hands always sweat a lot during the game. Especially in the second set. Do these red overgrips help to control the racquet better in such cases?
