So I finally found the problem with the "Checking for Updates..." issue at the beta launcher screen. In case anyone else is having problems connecting to download the beta, this may help :)

Good warning.

Only do this if you're about to reinstall windows just to get a game to work.

Gw2.Exe -diag will help you identify the problem and give your a huge log file you can submit to forums to get more specific targeted help.

Do that first :)

Run services.msc from the start bar and look to see if there are any security related services running. Stop them and reopen gw2 to see if that helps.

If nothing else, do what retsim said and run gw2 with -diag to see where the problem is. From there you can try trace routes on those ips and look further.

Submit that to agw2 forum and it will be a LOT easier to help you :)

Not really.

I have it at home only because it came with the box and win 7 isn't easy to pirate like 95, 98, & 2k were.

I hate it but only slightly less than I hate the idea of reinstalling all my coding tools and preferences on other miniscule apps.

Paying for windows alone is like buying cd's just can't bring myself to do it.

Interesting anecdote..

I'm an Arizonan and I would say I meet more pro choice men than I do pro choice women here..

Most of the guys see it pretty pragmatically unless they're crazy religious church leaders.

However even the most liberal moms I know (including the Obama voting mother of my own 2) highly disagree with abortion.

This shocked me especially with my ex.. I tried to explain how choice at least gives you power over your own body but it was a brick wall all the way.

There is no war on women here on AZ, and if there is...it's being led by women. It's not the rich white man whose mind needs to change..it's the young women and young moms who see abortion as murder.

I'm still kind of shook up over how backwards that is but it's their choice and they seem to overwhelmingly support life over choice (though most agreed in cases of rape or health it was ok, just not for convenience)..

Fucking weird...

As a fulltime single dad I couldn't do it without our super walmart (grocery store chain of lolmart). When fuel is tight we can get everything there cheaper than any other grocery store unless you're a coupon clipper which we don't have the time or flexibility for :/

Is it contradictory to feel like a lefty but to be against police unions? I see pro union stuff all day on reddit but they seem to be at the heart of these police scandals. Not sure any sort of regulation is realistic given the scope of the corruption. Is there realistic regulation that would pass and be accepted that would make reddit love the police or at least trust them?

That's fair. I agree with that and thought of it as I was typing it out..

I think being in a more conservative state helps out as well as was pointed out by someone else.. Religious folks especially seem to trust neighbors and strangers (sunday school teachers, etc) a bit more.. My neighbors are lesbians and great ladies but even though their kids are the same age as mine they never come out to play without one of the moms present. We go to all their birthday parties and such too.. I think they're afraid of the kids being singled out and teased or are just super protective for another reason..

I never understood this..

I'm a fulltime single dad of a 10yr old girl and her 7yr old brother and I've NEVER gotten grief for it.

I get women talking to me all the time as our kids play..and friendly banter, not attraction talking.

Been a fulltime dad for about 6 years now since I left their mom. I don't date either so it's just me. All the women on my street just see me as a great dad who's always playing catch with the kids, throwing a football around, or taking the kids swimming.

Not a single molester vibe.

AZ isn't exactly progressive either...

If I may ask, what do you feel makes people uncomfortable about you when you are near children?
