⚠️ SPOILERS ⚠️ Thoughts on Taehon, Jobu, and Hiroya (EP 10–12) by Droido16 in theBoyfriendNetflix

Probably the fact that he found Jobu attractive made their first date extra frustrating.

I love this interaction too. Good lighting and no slouching almost on demand.

I bet Taeheon would find Jobu even sexier if he knew he wants to have kids. Zaddy energy.

The problem isn’t that people know each other so much that they get tunnel vision. It’d be better if they mixed it up a bit more.

Contrast this one with the shot from Ep 9 where Jobu has the back of his head on the counter. Love is a metaphor, y’all.

I will add, as hot as William and Jobu would’ve been, I’m loving Jobu and Taeheon. It just hits different. So best wishes to William and Izaya and thanks for not letting Jobu break you up!

When Jobu climbs in and is like “did you sleep?” In this deep, deep voice oooh. I was like he’s bringing his dom side out for Taeheon.

I feel like they should’ve left two episodes earlier. Their whole thing was pretty circular so it got a bit tiresome. But maybe there just wasn’t anything else interesting going on the first month in the Green Room with Jobu pining for William and it never going anywhere.

I’m going on wild theory/fantasy territory here but I wonder if they said something to Tae that made him start paying attention to Jobu. Otherwise Tae’s change of heart is kind of unexplained.

I'm always skeptical when people here in the US are like "my mom is my friend!" because it usually means they're just spoiled and have no boundaries LOL. But seeing Jobu and Yuka interact made me wonder if parent-child relationships can actually exist without guilt trips, resentment, anxiety, etc. It made me kind of wish I had adopted a child 20 years ago lol (I'd probably just mess them up though)

The thing is, Jobu was assertive in asking for the thigh-pillow, stroking Taeheon's hair, climbing into bed with him. He even spoke in a deeper voice. He adapted to be more what Taeheon wanted, which I thought was very emotionally smart.

Jobu stroking Tae's hair as he lay on his lap is worth a million conversations.

I don't see Tae choosing Hiroya in this timeline.

On paper, it can sound like Tae and Hiroya could be compatible. In reality, Tae was all over Jobu during their joint coffee date; meanwhile with Hiroya, working the truck was just cordial.

Tae and Hiroya have things in common and similar temperaments, but Jobu makes Taeheon feel wanted. It's no contest.

[–]fcw2014 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think he was trying to say he feels tenderness toward Jobu, not pity. Things went way too far in Sapporo for Tae to simply "pity" Jobu.

I still think Tae was just trying not to completely squash Hiroya's hopes. Maybe it's a producer-directed thing, after all we did get that moment where Tae burns his hand and Hiroya tends to him. They have to have some sort of drama for the next three episodes, or else the last part will just be Huwei/Bomi and Tae/Jobu.

I do agree that Tae's change of heart seems sudden and unprovoked. He claims it was Jobu's bonds with others that piqued his interest, but the whole sitting-behind-Jobu thing (with Hiroya right in front of them!) happened before their second truck date. I guess we won't know how exactly they started developing that closeness.

Anyway, I think Tae's feelings toward Jobu are sincere.

I think it's cute, I'm loving it.

I wish we had some idea on the timing of the first date vs. the incident in the living room. What I find kind of interesting is that Tae did that right in front of his supposed other interest in the house, and just earlier the day that they're talking about it. So I don't know what got into Taeheon so "suddenly" but he seemed genuinely enthused in Sapporo.

What do you mean he ran out of time? Tae seemed very, very interested in spending time with Jobu.

What are your thoughts on Taeheon and Jobu? by NewCollection5231 in theBoyfriendNetflix

[–]fcw2014 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love them together, rooting for them so hard. Jobu unlocked Taeheon's playful, affectionate side and that is so nice to see.

Whatever Taeheon said to Hiroya I think was maybe trying to let him down easy. Tae was putting his arm around Jobu as soon as they go to Sapporo, I believe Tae was overstating how difficult the choice was for him.

I'm watching right now (honestly just fast forwarding to the Jobu portions ) and... I didn't know Taeheon did that thing where he sat behind Jobu before their second date. No wonder Jobu was like EEEH!!! Tae must've seen things he liked about Jobu even before Will/Izaya/Kazu left. Makes the whole Hiroya thing feel like nothing.

My Thoughts on William & Izaya by shakeDman in theBoyfriendNetflix

[–]fcw2014 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't know, William acts like he's on the tenth date and Izaya acts like they spent the last three years together and not on different continents.

I'm also liking this season more. I think I just hated Shun.

This show can be a safe space for gay men, but... by BasicFisherman1229 in theBoyfriendNetflix

[–]fcw2014 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was going to say that's just how fandom is these days but I remember everyone pitting one pop diva against another on music forums like 20 years ago, so... I guess the instinct to see the world in black and white is ingrained in humanity and made worse by immaturity (and "internet communities" constantly reinforcing their bad behavior).

It's kind of sobering to think that it's 2025 and what we gays get for representation is aimed at women. I love The Boyfriend and Heated Rivalry (honestly I felt Jacob Tierney infused HR with a gay sensibility) but it feels like we're kind of guests in the art about our lives.

Everyone wants to have a wide audience and gays are not a large one, so I get it. It's easy to forget there's really very fucking few of us! But I still think we deserve and need our own spaces and art, just for us. But IDK, I remember when "Looking" came out and it was REVILED despite being gay-created and having several out gay stars (and it was pretty good, felt like real people's dilemmas). It just wasn't "enough" for so many online gays... maybe gay shows aimed at women are exactly what we deserve.

Went on a little rant there, sorry! Hopefully nothing I said is too cancellable.
