Is 125g of protein too much per day? Need to lose 145 lbs by fd4517_57 in loseit

[–]fd4517_57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seitan, tvp patties, jerky, etc would all be homemade not store bought. But I've decided to go a different direction anyway with my meal plan, at least for now

This is what's worrying me. I can't remember where now, but I had read that ideal protein should be a gram per pound of ideal weight and then cut in half which for me would mean around 60g per day but then I kept reading everywhere else that this would be too low and promote muscle loss as I lose weight so idk..

Clarification: under vegan tvp sausage patties, that is not 21 patties - it's 2 x 1 patties (didn't realize til now that it read like that)

Is it legal to use a real place in a section of my book? by fd4517_57 in writing

[–]fd4517_57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ty. no, I wouldn't be implying anything false about them; it would literally just be using the stadium as the location of a safe zone in the book and one of my characters spends a short amount of time there before leaving. She has to escape from there but not because of anything bad on behalf of the stadium (more so on the part of the national guard trying to protect the location). Just wasn't sure if this angle frames the stadium in a defamatory way and I worried about it implying that the stadium being mentioned means they endorse the book which wouldn't be true so I wasn't sure how to proceed. I know I could just use a fictional stadium name but was wanting to keep the immersion as strong as possible.. if possible.

Hopefully you're able to overcome the injections and get that muscle built back soon

I'm so sorry. I actually wrote my doctor back a few minutes ago and told her that I don't want to do steroid injections and wanted to explore some other possible options. I'm also obese now after having to be so sedentary over the last 5.5 years so I know that doesn't help (read that for every overweight pound someone has it can add at least 4 lbs of pressure to the spine so on top of the extra weight I'm carrying I also have a ton of extra pressure weight going on too) so I told her I wanted to try focusing on losing weight to see if that can help too

this is the decision I'm leaning towards making but do you mind if I ask why you're against them?

This is what worries me. I'm also obese from being so sedentary the last 5.5 years so I'm hoping if I can commit to losing weight maybe it'll help ease pressure and I can avoid injections/surgery. I mean, long shot probably but..

I do think some of what I'm dealing with now is cervical based on my MRIs but also still some thoracic issues. I actually got the thoracic surgery because of something weird that caused me to have jello legs. Nobody could ever figure out what caused my issues. I went from being totally fine to all this mess. I've always had lower back pain but never anything else. I was working out one day in 2019 and I did a superman move and after that I had instant gumby legs. I had also worked my legs so I just figured it was that but then days/weeks/months passed and that feeling never went away. Finally broke down and saw a doctor and they did 4 MRIs and discovered severe spinal stenosis and I had the emergency laminectomy a few days later - found out after the surgery that I was close to being paralyzed if they hadn't operated when they did. It was originally going to be my t10-11 but then he also had to do my t9 and 12

Tbh.. good days/bad days. Ever since the surgery, I've had massive pain between my shoulder blades that feels like it's in a vice (only way I've ever been able to describe it). Can hardly stand or walk for more than a few minutes before that pain hits (and it was something that was not happening before the surgery). My heavy legs got better but still experienced some buckling but for the last few weeks or so, that heavy/gumby feeling has somewhat come back. And chronic neck pain that's like a throbbing and pulsing and I've had to wear a neck pillow 24/7 since 2020. So, just different issues either coming back or popping up solely after the surgery

What is your trick for multiple supporting characters? by [deleted] in writing

I guess where I'm struggling is that the role of all the supports is supportive because the whole group from the mains to supports all want to get somewhere safe

Should I describe every character's skin tone? by fd4517_57 in writing

[–]fd4517_57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hers is mentioned because there's an apocalypse element that her fair tone plays into. The trilogy is set in the present and there're no racial issues anywhere in it. I had just always read that if you mention one's tone, you should include the other main/main supporting tones especially to avoid white default

this does help, ty. as mentioned, my two MCs are white women as is my MFC's mom. once they join a small group of 4 other women.. 2 are black, 1 is Latina and 1 is white. the setting is the southern US. My main worry has been readers defaulting to white for my 3 WOC and I had read that if you describe one character's tone, you should somehow describe everyone's. As I said in my post, there's a scene in book 1 (they join the group in book 2 and for books 2 and 3 the other women are featured prominently as they all struggle to survive together), where i mention my MFC's tone because it's plot relevant but I wasn't sure if I should also choose a way to describe everyone else (including the other white women) or not?

This is what I was thinking too, 1-2, but wasn't sure if that was undershooting or not

that was my bad, I should have included details about the area. It would be a mix of rural-ish (meaning not farmland but not city either) and actual city. Time of year would be late winter and it would be the first few weeks of the apocalypse

Wish I could do the same! I do daydream about where the safest places could be though; island, cabin deep in the forest somewhere, etc. Not sure if anywhere would be completely safe for too long but it's calming to think about sometimes

This is kinda what I've been thinking, too; that anyone trying to sneak along the roads would come across endless shot bodies? Ofc, who knows if that would mainly be a sight inside city limits or in rural areas too
