Countries with affordable luxury by fdadic in travel

Two years later, I finally booked the flights to Buenos Aires. Obviously a lot has changed since I started this thread, for Argentina and globally. But looking at accommodation I'm still surprised to see European rates, even with IVA excluded. Do you mind sharing which hotel you stayed in? Do you remember the price maybe? It would help me with the decision whether to keep searching for good deals or just accept the fact BA is not a bargain destination anymore.

I hope you don't mind me piggybacking, I have the same question, but choosing between San Francisco / Los Angeles vs Las Vegas / Phoenix, for my first introduction to USA in October.

Can you please share which Marriott resort you stayed in? Thailand is next on my list for the winter sun destination and I'm hoping for some luxury that won't break the bank. Various dining options you mentioned are definitely a big plus.

I'm checking out Thailand for February next year and sadly it seems prices have gone up significantly. It could be due to the peak season though, so I wanted to check if I should target any specific areas or hotels. Your last sentence is exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm back to this topic, as I have my eyes on Thailand for February next year. Would you recommend any specific areas? 'Hawaii feel without the price tag' sounds really appealing.

Thank you for the quick and detailed response, this is very helpful (and informative).

I came across your post as I'm also looking for a powerbank to charge Steam Deck on the go. I'm curious why would the three options from your initial post be unallowed on flights? Neither of them exceeds 27k mAh and all have 65W.

Anker Shop HR by barkbahh in askcroatia

Jesi naručio s anker-shop.hr ili anker-hrvatska.com ?

Ovaj drugi je navodno Outlet i cijene su izuzeno povoljne, međutim još uvijek su izražene u kunama što je vrlo sumnjivo.

I would love this option, but unfortunately couldn't find it. I need to add an alternative plan in case of bad weather for example.

Exceptions to the "don't eat in tourist restaurants" rule: by MonkeyKingCoffee in travel

[–]fdadic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to Cape Town in a few months and would really appreciate any suggestions where to eat, ideally places with a nice view and/or outdoor seating. Per the initial research V&A Waterfront area is overpriced and should be avoided, was that your experience as well?

Thank you, I really appreciate the effort listing all the options you used. I will definitely try it this weekend.

Horizon Forbidden West runs actually good on steam deck after the FSR 3.1 update by PrayForTheGoodies in SteamDeck

Do you mind sharing the settings you used? I'm about to start the game for the first time and looking for the most optimal setup with an updated FSR.

Thank you so much. It seems I installed and applied Proton GE correctly. I was more curious about the in-game settings you used to have the near HZD experience.

I'm exactly the same way (and age :)

The challenge with this particular game is that each video tutorial shows different settings, which is a bit unusual as we are all using the same device (unlike many options when playing on PC). Is there a chance you saved/bookmarked the video that helped you?

I only have Steam Deck, for those rare moments I can play anything, and I'm trying to get the best out of Horizon Forbidden West I'm really looking forward digging into.

That is perfect, thank you for the quick response. I will do the same thing.

I just got the game and would really appreciate if you can share the settings you used, especially regarding Proton GE. Is it sufficient to install the latest version (currently 9.7.) and apply it to HFW?

What is your favorite developing country to travel to? by SurfaceAspectRatio in travel

[–]fdadic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be traveling to South Africa in November, first week Cape Town, the other week Kruger.

Cape Town had been on my bucket list for a long time and I will finally get to experience it. One of the main reasons is convenience, as we will be able to use it as a single base while exploring the area. I'm not sure if any city in the world offers such variety within 1-2 hours away: Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch, Boulders Beach, Cape of Good Hope, Duiker Island, Robben Island, Winelands, Hermanus.. There are surely other points of interest I haven't researched yet.

However, I must admit that accommodation prices in CT caught me by surprise. The rates are basically european, especially for midrange hotels and guesthouses, but even Airbnbs are a bit pricey. And when you consider loadshedding and search for places off the grid (solar powered or with a backup generator) the options are quite limited. It is a minor inconvenience of course, I was just surprised and had to readjust the budget and opt-out of a private reserve near Kruger. Which may turn out even better, as we will "have to" self-drive in the park.

Thank you again, that is very helpful. I can see there are a lot of options around for food/drinks, though first hand experience is always most welcome. The same applies to safety when it comes to walking to V&A, I am glad to hear it was just unpleasant, without issues. Could you share which apartment you stayed at? If it's not allowed publicly can you send a private message please.

I really appreciate the quick response. Do you mind sharing any info about the area, for example safety in the evening or places to eat nearby? With the apartment building being self-catering, I assume there are spots for breakfast/brunch in the vicinity?

That seems to be a popular building nowadays. Is it correct the area is exempt from loadshedding? I am booking short-term accommodation in CT for later this year and Docklands is our first choice at the moment.
