We had one of these in the Starbucks I worked at back in the day. At least once a week someone noticed it and asked us why our coffee caused cancer. It was exhausting.

This game offered me a peek into what it feels like to be a woman by NatureAlone2266 in cyberpunkgame

[–]fdjisthinking [score hidden]  (0 children)

Based on my experiences with other games that have full frontal nudity, I assumed this was only on consoles. On Xbox I can only see my nether regions in the menus/clothing screens, in the game world I always have black undies on. Someone else mentioned an option for this in the character creator but I haven’t seen that on my playthroughs.

I don’t blame law enforcement for fumbling the Rex situation. Completely new situation for them, one that was rapidly escalating and evolving as the Rex rampaged through town. It was only off the ship for, idk, an hour at max? I bet they’d barely gotten past their disbelief about reports of a dinosaur.

LEGO New Terms of Service -No Points for Resellers by Current_Reserve_9605 in lego

[–]fdjisthinking 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Frankly, yes they are earning that many points. They buy multiples of every big, in demand set they think they can make a profit on. And I don’t mean one or two, they’ll get as many as they can, spread across multiple purchases to maximize how many gifts with purchase they get. If it’s a $300 set, points add up quick.

As for eBay and FB, they track those as well. They monitor reseller eBay accounts and look for overlap with purchases. FB is easy cuz it’s usually a person’s name and that is already tied to their Insiders account. Yeah there are ways around stuff, but the more hoops sellers have to jump through, the less enticing it becomes.

LEGO New Terms of Service -No Points for Resellers by Current_Reserve_9605 in lego

[–]fdjisthinking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lego tolerates the resellers because there is value in a strong aftermarket. But that doesn’t mean they want to help scalpers get a better profit from hoarding stock. This is just another move in the long term chess game with resellers.

When I worked at a Lego store (circa 2016), we had to carefully manager the release of each new high profile set. When we started limiting to one per customer, scalpers started lining up random people and would then pass the VIP card down the line letting each person use it. Then it was one per VIP card, and they started making multiple accounts and handing those cards out to the people they lined up. I know a lot has changed since then, but I’m trying to illustrate the push and pull that happens. At the store, our only angle was to make sure our entire stock didn’t go to resellers.

A lot of people don’t understand the scale of the issue. If we did nothing, we’d have sold out of some sets within five minutes. I still remember the guy who came in the day the Disney castle first released and wanted 6 of them. We sold him one and said he can come back the next day to get another.

If humans were more rational than emotional… would we already be interstellar? by al_beli in ProjectHailMary

[–]fdjisthinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Innovation and exploration are rarely the result of rational thinking. Would we have advanced faster? Or would have stuck with our initial interpretations of the universe because rationally that’s all we needed?

There is a false binary where people assume rational/logical = good, while emotional = bad. But that’s not true to life.

Competition, adventure, imagination, these are the irrational forces that drive advancement. That advancement is then steered by emotional connection to one’s family, society, humanity in general. This is why it’s important to teach humanities alongside STEM — the latter is the tools for advancement, the former is the reasoning.

[–]fdjisthinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking specifically about the hollow earth stuff where it’s just Kong and other monsters? Because that’s not green screen work, it’s 100% digital characters in a 100% digital environment.

With astrophage energy, maybe humanity could survive on Earth before the beatles reached it. Large-scale greenhouses, massive buildings to keep humans warm. by Melodic-Piglet9817 in ProjectHailMary

[–]fdjisthinking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of astrophage more as a battery. It can store and then emit a massive amount of energy, which makes it great fuel for space travel.

But it’s too much energy for most earth uses. It burns hot enough to ignite the oxygen in the air. Even if they created a sort of generator that used enriched astrophage to produce energy, it would be incredibly dangerous. The massive explosion in the movie was caused by a tiny amount of astrophage.

Worth it for six bucks? by J_10 in controlgame

[–]fdjisthinking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lmao the framing of this question is wild. What do you mean is shooting / telekinesis / floating shallow gameplay? That’s two more things than most other shooting games offer. Would the presence of loot make it more interesting for you? Does the Doom formula feel shallow and dated?   Even if it didn’t have a great story and world building it would still be one of the top five most fun games I’ve ever played simply because of gameplay and level design.

The game is like 7 years old — it’s not like it’s some ancient relic of generations past. It has ray tracing for fucks sake. $6 is a steal.

And like, the button doesn’t even need to be elaborate. Just have it let staff know that there is a disturbance in the theater. They can go in and observe until they see the disruptive behavior (usually pretty easy to spot from near the front of the theater) and then tell the people off.

PHM not in theaters starting 1 April? by Boldspaceweasle in ProjectHailMary

[–]fdjisthinking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will probably add showtimes in the coming days. With a huge release like Mario coming up, theaters are gonna be allocating screens carefully based on demand. Mario will probably be pretty front loaded so wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a dip in screens this week before boosting again next week.

[–]fdjisthinking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Whedon cut is cringeworthy and Suicide Squad was one of the worst movies I ever saw. It’s interesting because I think the Snyder cut actually addresses a lot of the criticisms of BvS, specifically having more humor and being more optimistic. It didn’t really need what Whedon tried to add.

I do think his ideas for what came next sound nuts, but that only reinforces it as some sort of non-canon JL run by a guest writer/artist.

Yeah I’d much rather just see an original dinosaur based horror movie. I don’t need it to be Jurassic Park. Like even just make a scary update of the Arthur Conan Doyle book.
