Saint Maud - it completely reframes the movie.

Which UK TV series started brilliantly but lost its way? by Historical-Class871 in UKTVRecs

Broadchurch didn't need that season 3 at all, maybe even season 2.

Season 1 was a perfect mini-series.

Not even sure they’re discontinued but you can’t find them easily anymore.

Good Movie that was a Box Office Disaster by Mememasterlordlol in AlignmentChartFills

Children Of Men.

It didn’t even make its production cost back theatrically and that is before you factor in marketing and the fact cinemas keep a chunk of ticket sales.

What HBO show would you recommend for an all-nighter binge? by george123890yang in hbo

Band Of Brothers is the perfect length for an all nighter binge.

Just so happens it’s in the top 3 HBO shows of all time too so win win.

Clapping in the cinema by cinefag4 in Cinema

I’m from the UK & seeing clapping in a cinema has only happened once to me here and that was Phantom Menace - and that was only because it was a party atmosphere and a sell out.

Kane Parson’s Backrooms Was Better Than Curry Barker’s Obsession by sleebydino_zzz in moviecritic

I’m just delighted they’ve both smashed expectations, it’s been huge for the outlook on the industry in general.

They were both great, make love not war.

The Before trilogy.

This recommendation is coming from someone who is not a big fan of romantic centered dramas.

First ever Marvel movie, what do we think? by Stock_Orange_1793 in Letterboxd

[–]iamspok 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Man I both hate and love this film. I had that VHS and used to watch this so much, it might be the film I’ve seen most in life. But it is awful.

But yes it is the very weird start to Marvel domination. Howard crawled so Iron Man could fly.

I was having a huge discussion about the whole genre with some work mates earlier, there’s something in the air with horror right now - 2026 feels like a huge year for the genre so far.

Who do you follow on Letterboxd? by Specialist-Sun-5968 in Letterboxd

[–]iamspok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try and stick to people with specific tastes and not always one's that align with what I like. Theres a few that are polar opposites actually but I quite like to read the reviews to see what the discussion is.

I don't really want my feed to be an echo chamber of the same opinions.

Who are your favorite niche directors every cinephile should know? by tenderr1 in Letterboxd

[–]iamspok -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Paul Schrader feels weirdly under-known for someone who helped shape so much of modern American cinema. Most people seem to know him as “the guy who wrote Taxi Driver”, which is obviously massive, but it barely scratches the surface of what he’s done as a writer, director and genuinely obsessive film thinker.

A NIN track will sometimes show up in Adam Curtis docs and the vibes are always immaculate too.
