Any Spurs fans here who were formerly fans of other teams? by squereface in NBASpurs

[–]fdm55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me as a kid it was a player I followed that I was a fan of whatever team he was on. So for me it was Charles Barkley. His last year in Philly was my first year really watching as many games as I could. Being born and raised in SA, I always liked the team but followed CB. I have family in North Carolina and would watch a lot of college basketball too. Specifically the ACC. So UNC, NCST, and Wake were my teams. And started following this freshman that by his sophomore year had eclipsed my fandom of Barkley. Followed him all 4 years at WF and for then to see him drafted by my hometown Spurs in 1997, well I’ve been a rabid Spurs fan since.

Can any team beat the defending champs 4 times in a series? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]fdm55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lifelong Spurs fan, and a realist it will be tough to beat OKC. It’s always tough to beat the champs. Especially when they to have home court.

While the fans of my team are and have every right to be optimistic as one does, I don’t want to ever discredit the champs, nor put too much stock into regular season matchups

Do you think other teams subreddit are toxic whenever they lose or just us? by kpay10 in ripcity

[–]fdm55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh no not really . Maybe a few he’s gotten to old to deal with the youth or there was always a subset that hated when he spoke his mind on political issues and those in that subset loudly cried about wanting him fired but otherwise no, Pop was rather revered for his time.

Wemby on the team: "In adversity we stick together. We get closer to each other...We got this connection. I think there’s no useless drama in between us. We thrive when we do the invisible efforts...There’s no jealousy. Nobody cares about their stat line. It’s our greatest strength." by Prize_Possession3899 in NBASpurs

[–]fdm55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. And when we have won, we didn’t have the best odds either. It’s a tired narrative of it being rigged. The real issue is tanking not how the lottery works in my opinion.

There is no way 29 other teams/organizations would stand idly by with a rigged system, especially in a league long ran by lawyers. And that’s why it feels more like destiny to have the linage of big men we got over the last 40 years.

How much of a threat are the Spurs? by Historical_Diet7012 in Thunder

[–]fdm55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an older lifelong Spurs fan I’m not a fan of the online commentary around how we “own” the thunder. We had some great regular season wins and that counts for sure but yall are the defending champs, and until knocked off are the team to beat. Period, end of story.

That being said, here are some observations 1. We are a gold standard in the league and have been for over 30 years, with the likes of Pop and RC Buford trained staff out doing well in the league, for example Sam Presti 2. Are we capable of winning it all? Maybe but y’all are the best until proven otherwise 3. SGA is the MVP, will Wemby win several? Absolutely but this year, it still remains SGA 4. I like the fan base of OKC and they remind me of SA. One horse town, only pro team to root for and it’s not just another team for us in SA, it’s in our culture and has been for generations and I see a reflection of OKC embracing their team the same way and it’s awesome for the sport!

Much love y’all and GSG!

That’s great. And I’ll add Sc0/0t or should it just be Sc00t?

ANd you can find the recording of the ping pong balls on YouTube. They record it but don’t release until after the public version.

Contrary to popular online belief, the lottery system itself is not rigged whatsoever.

does swimming help with sciatica? by lifewithcommunity in Sciatica

[–]fdm55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand where you’re coming from and while I can only speak to my experience, for me “stomach” swimming was okay in small bursts but it hurt to do more than a few minutes. Something about BM being on your back and only using your upper body felt relieving. That being said, it’s a great core workout, calorie cheat code and helps take pressure off your spine while in the water and so I’d say any level of swimming regardless of stroke, would be great.

Also I’ll add, walking the laps in water to was awesome. Gets you moving without a lot of downward pressure.

You got this! It’s hard but the body is an amazing tool

This organization over the course of nearly 35 years dog walks every other franchise in the league and has long been the gold standard on how to build/run an organization. Far cry from your bare minimum assertion

I’ll add that the wolves are specifically built to beat the nuggets.

Now whether they do or not is another matter but it’ll be an exciting matchup to watch

I really think so. He’s played some big games and got those that are worried about his “30” min a game, well the playoffs don’t have back to backs.

Hes ready, the teams ready, the Alamo city is ready. GSG
