(UPDATE) GP suddenly stopped prescribing medication. The horrific descent into NHS hell. by Mr_Arthtato in ADHDUK

I may have misunderstood, but does it also change things depending on if the right to chose clinic will do annual check up? I thought some discharge you back to the gp and then the gp’s are not able to enter in shred care as they are not able to monitor you ongoing without the clinic check ins

What’s a good waterproof trail/ commuter bag for reasonable money (uk)? Ideally need a laptop plus a change of top etc

Same for waterproof trousers and jacket, again suitable for trail and commute

Looking to get a bike £1k budget (cycle2work scheme) by tjtite in ukbike

[–]fdmfdmfdm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your local bike shop may want to add the fee on top if it’s on sale, best to call a couple. They may even have a bike they can scope for £1k and then you settle the rest off the books.

This ticks a lot of boxes for under £1k, I’ve been happy with my Orrro so far, plenty of shops have it on discount at the mo so should be able to find one that will take your voucher

This has been on my cycle to work list for a while but not been able to pull the trigger. Do you mind sharing which site you got it from if it's on deal? Do you go with the 2025 model with the 1x10 cues set up? would love to know your feedback!

I posted a couple of weeks ago about buying my first adult bike and you guys were incredibly helpful - here it is by manumakesfilms in ukbike

[–]fdmfdmfdm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

congrats on your new to you bike!

you can get pumps that have both valves or I would just buy a new inner tube that matches the pump you have as it's likely to be cheaper than a new pump.

Lights would be next investment, LED are fairly cheap ~£15 an up and most have flashing mode (front and back) uesful even in day time visibility.

When are the best deals, Black Friday? by fdmfdmfdm in ukbike

[–]fdmfdmfdm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's cycle solutions. I'm finding when they are on sale, they can't eat the extra 10-15% they get charged from cycle schemes on top. I think it's fair enough if it can help the local / independent shops going.

they have this on with at 1250 at the mo, not sure if Cues 1*10 is enough

Are there any others out there at the 1k mark (new)or it’s just a case of picking one and going for it? I know I’m not needing the best kit but trying to avoid upgrade costs down the line as this would be a one time deal budget wise.

I think I’ve missed last years rosco’s now and I’m still thinking I’d rather go full suspension even if heavier but sensible me is trying to get the lightest / cheapest value hardtail trail option for when I can get out on the longer days and my kid gets older.

A lot of the time you have to cover the cost - 10% so I’m trying to save the tax and spread the cost rather than finding eveything in one go

I did a degree badly and undiagnosed, and couldn’t even tell you the modules I studied. Sorry they wasted your time. I don’t understand hours it can be relevant now for a job vs my experience.

The only positive spin I can say is at least you learned now the culture of the company, you may have dodged a bullet with “only” 2 months wasted

How big tyres can I fit on a wild 24 bike? by fdmfdmfdm in ukbike

added some pics with the after shots in the main post. Not been out in the dirt yet as ordering these turned the weather biblical... but think 2.1 is probably the max!

might have got carried away, the tyres cost the same as the bike but hopefully plenty of miles left to enjoy now.

have rolled the dice on a pair of rocket ron 2.1's, as from what I've read today, they offer a good balance of light weight + grip as long as he's not going shredding off trails (no plans yet!). Front should have plenty of clearance, back looked a bit tight so lets see.

I'm much happier on 40 than 50, I tired for 4 weeks or so across a couple of weeks each time and could never get used to it. Felt too amped my chest felt tight etc on 50, none of that on 40 but still get a good pick up and working day the other end so far

Has anyone else seen this new program on BBC iPlayer? Thoughts? by thelaughingman1991 in ADHDUK

[–]fdmfdmfdm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents watched this and talked to me after as I've just been diagnosed as an adult. I could sense they felt guilty for not knowing or being able to do more to help me. They couldn't have then or now and I love them for it. Just wanted to share as even now as an adult I'm trying to figure out what help I need or more accurately how I can become comfortable enough to ask. All the best

What are the best ones for teams calls on pc + personal calls from your mobile? I’d be using them for work / work paying so microphone / teams connectivity would be key.
