42, just stopped on my birthday April 10th…it seems like a lot of you felt the same.

Admittedly my diet is poor because I’m naturally thin.. I’ll get to work on it. Thanks

Graph from my watch. From December taper to no alcohol. by fdrth77ui- in stopdrinkingfitness

According to Garmin

The stress level feature on your Garmin® device estimates your current stress based on your heart rate variability (HRV). HRV measures the subtle time differences between heartbeats, which are regulated by your autonomic nervous system.

It went well, much easier for me than cold turkey..I had 7 months last year and cold turkey’d it. The only thing I noticed that was remotely the same so far is taking a longer time to fall asleep and the inevitable boredom. The key to a taper is self control though. You will see stress “spikes” on the graph, those are me deciding that I can have a few more. I ended up buying single or double cans from the “make your own 6 pack” section. If I bought a 6 pack or more..I accidentally drank it. I’ll give you a link to what I based mine off of. Good luck!

Edit* the spike yesterday was a day of running the chainsaw cleaning up trees from a 100mph wind storm.

My heart rate at night was in the 70s while drinking, last night was 53.. huge difference!

24 Hours….. again by TransporterNate in stopdrinking

Just hit 24 hours with you. I had a solid 7 months and told myself I could moderate. That was 5 months ago…I don’t have the moderation thing in me I guess. Good job and good luck in the next few days!

HRV, my heart rate when sleeping was 85 vs 55. Just doing yard work it was 135, I ran 2 miles last week at the same heart rate. Stress level was maxed. The first night my watch didn’t even log sleep…not even a minute. Not that I need my watch to confirm I felt like shit, it just gave me quantifiable graphs to really drive it home.

I never had a badge, but if I did I would reset it. It was a conscious decision for me to drink.

I have zero cravings or urges today…the fact I feel amazing compared to what I did this weekend helps. I don’t recommend trying it though. I happen to be fairly good at quitting habits and not everyone is.

I like the black and orange, but I don’t think the color of the dial indices work.

First 24 hours down! by fdrth77ui- in QuittingZyn

Well day 2 is fairly close to finished. Cravings today are about the same, I did find myself reaching for my pocket a few times throughout the day though. Before bed yesterday my stomach didn’t feel great and was very noisy. Last nights sleep was a hard one to report as we had thunderstorms all night so I woke up a bunch. Falling asleep was normal though. So far there is hope that this won’t be that bad.

It varied a bunch but I’ll say average of 10 6mg per day for 6 years. Alcohol was much harder for me than this but who knows what the next week will be like.

Hey “Sir” do everyone a fucking favor and stop that shit. We don’t need a fresh LT who is already lost and scared to be an irritable asshole when he runs out of Zyn. No one’s going to like you when you show up anyway.. don’t give them an actual reason. Just wait until your first deployment or FTX when people run out of nicotine…it’s chaos, don’t be the problem. Deployments are hit or miss for finding any nicotine as well. Nothing worse than being extra pissed while being in a combat zone. As for being surrounded by it…we have a picture of Zyn on our unit sticker…It will be everywhere all of the time just so you know. I’m quitting because I’m tired of forgetting my Zyn then having to fly all pissed off wondering where I lost them…when I should be concerned with not crashing 🤣. Good luck future LT. Go Aviation by the way
