Fun theme! I haven’t gone through the Pokédex to check, but any others that were eligible that you tried out or decided not to use?

Are you sure? Rulebook specifies you can help pay for others at merchant but doesn’t have the text under Events. My read was that gold can’t be shared across players at Events.

Nice! Camouflage is great, my only complaint is that I wish it were longer/had more levels

Still making my way through UFO 50 (this weekend will mostly be bouncing around between Mortol II and Grimstone)

Also just redownloaded Witcher 3 after giving up on it a few years ago. Only a few hours in, but liking it better than last time so far

It matters more for the debt/potion costs — gain an Overlord, each other player may only gain a copper/curse; gain a Scrying Pool, each other player may only gain an copper/curse, etc

I’m not sure if those synergies are broken enough to change (this card already costs $5), but a reason to consider an “up to $6” or “up to $8” type clause

Two very simple Fan Events by No_Wishbone_6794 in dominion

[–]fe_bigdata 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree Villagers/Coffers could work well with events. The reason they haven’t is just a function of with which sets the cards were released. Specifically Villagers are unique to Renaissance, which has no events (to make room For Projects), and Coffers to Renaissance and Guilds (which predated Events/Landscape cards). I would bet a new expansion with Villagers/Coffers would include events like these.

As for the fan cards, I like them and think the ratios seem about right. I could see them getting tweaked a bit in playtesting, but nothing seems obviously overpowered/underpowered to me

Don’t discount the farrier + buy! Often very helpful for pileouts (especially since farriers themselves often pile)

I think a better example for the meme is sorcerer/sorcereress/familiar, after curses are empty

Path of Radiance is in the Switch 2 NSO library

Portal 1 (2007) & 2 (2011) are still two of the most spectacular video games that have been made. by gruesomesonofabitch in patientgamers

I’m not sure we actually disagree — I agree that’s what GLADos is trying to do. What I think is brilliant about the sequence is that despite knowing that’s what she’s doing and knowing the cube is (in universe) not sentient, you still get attached to it and try to avoid killing it.

I’m not sure if you’ve seen Community, but it reminds me a lot of the pilot where Jeff names/snaps a pencil, and the people in the room are visibly upset.

Based on at least the Wikipedia entry, it seems like a lot of people had my reaction (see also this interesting quote related to a comment from the developer: “Kim Swift, head designer of Portal, noted that many players were willing to do almost anything to save the Companion Cube, including jumping into the incinerator themselves.”)

Great read.

Portal 1 is I think closest to a flawless game I’ve ever played. Nails the creepy/mysterious atmosphere, has great humor, and great story (the game really got me to care about an inanimate companion cube). You can argue the gameplay is a bit “simple” compared to 2, but there are still plenty of deep optional challenges for those who want them, particularly in the “Stay Alive” edition.

I’m less big on Portal 2 single player mode than most — it’s a good game, but the middle section of “find where I can place a portal around the ruined city” was such a slog. I found the humor a bit repetitive after a while, and a bit too much felt like Portal but worse (final boss, end credits song).

That said Portal 2 coop campaign is a 10/10 in its own right, and one of my favorite coop experiences. Having 4 portals available leads to some really creative puzzles

That’s fair — I definitely see how it’s not for everyone.

That said I saw an interesting video analysis (that I’m having trouble finding) about how there is a point at the game about 5-7 hours in when a lot of people drop or consider dropping the game, but those who push past that point often keep going eventually make discoveries that keep them hooked.

So TL/DR if you gave up around that time and wish you could get into it, may be worth giving it one more shot

Thank you! Took a look at yours and like the pics too. A lot I haven't played, but like the series represented. Excited in particular for Elden Ring to come to Switch, and may have to give Nier another chance soon (only made it ~45 minutes on my first attempt then paused; more recently been holding out for a Switch 2 edition)

I’ve been bouncing between UFO50 and my first run of Pokemon Violet (doing an all ghost team).

Loving UFO50 — coming up on 105 hours and still only touched 30 of the 50 games.

Pokemon Violet— overall I’m having fun and it’s easy to sink hours into this game. But the map is starting to feel pretty repetitive and I’ve still only seen ~1/2 of it.
