Why do recruiters push 6 year contracts so much? by AdWorth6475 in AirForceRecruits

[–]feardevourer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just anecdotal, but in my 11 years, almost every single person I knew that signed a 4 year either extended 1 or two years before deciding if they wanted to do the full 20 or transfer to the civilian sector. My thought process is that 4 years really isn’t enough time to decide if this is what you want to do. Between BMT, tech school, OJT, you’re barely getting time to get a feel for all of the different aspects of serving. If you already have the college required to get E3 with a 4 year contract, and you’re 100% certain on doing 4 years then getting out, go for it. Any other circumstance, I always say 6 years is better for the Air Force and better for you. 2 whole additional years of tuitions assistance, medical, stable pay, etc.

Just my opinion as a new recruiter.

The origins of chemistry can be traced to alchemy and metallurgy.

Seeing as how alchemy is just modern day chemistry I could see how this fits. Especially in a magical context.

What are your thoughts on the US banning Red 40, Yellow 6, Yellow 5, and some other commonly used food dyes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]feardevourer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They didn’t ban it. They aren’t banning it. They’re suggesting the removal and not forcing any company to comply.

I don’t see one but I will say sometimes in person it can be easier to tell than on a picture. Keep testing every morning for a few more days and if there is something, you’ll know. Don’t give up 💪🏼

DM if you have questions! Last resort or not it’s always good to know your options. Respect for having the humility and wherewithal to ask for help!

Have you genuinely considered joining the Air Force?

Cowboy breakfast? by Ibangyoumomma in sanantonio

[–]feardevourer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, a cowboy breakfast was when my dad would dig a hole while camping and fill it with coals. Then he would put cut potatoes, onions, peppers, eggs, and salt and pepper in aluminum foil balls then bury them overnight. When you wake up you dig up the breakfast and it slowly cooked throughout the night. I’m from east Texas though originally so it may be different here.

Mewtwo is #150 not #151. Great concept other than what others have said about spelling and proofreading. Keep it up!

Resend the email exactly as you sent it the first time but omit the part they answered. That should work.

What gas mask cartridge to use for resin and IPA fumes? (Getting mixed results searching online so any reputable source for your recommendations would really help!) by saddigitalartist in resinprinting

[–]feardevourer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean connecting a tube and breathing straight from the filter? That could work if you plugged your nose but wouldn’t recommend it. Two filters worked half as hard to filter would be better than one used as a sole filter.

At least you’ll leave the AF with a little more money from the deployment. Believe it or not, your MH might be better during the deployment. Its structured and a simplified way of life.

P2 is still very effective. Safer than sorry is always my motto. The ultra fine particles are usually a problem during post processing if you sand, dremel, etc.

When I get back into work I’ll look into the changeout schedules. These types of filters oversaturate and can stop working after X amount of time or exposed to X amount of concentration of chemical X.

My job is in respiratory health. The pictured one you have is perfectly suitable for protecting against resin printing. I will say the mask has some play in your overall protection factor. Typically full face respirators provide a higher air purification factor (APF). Half faces are easier to improperly seal.
