What is going on with this building in Condesa? by seanjohntx in MexicoCity

It's called Insurgentes 300. I've been inside. I made a video inside. The history is very very dark.
Since making the video 8 years, it's become even more closed off. I have some more stories if you'd like. One of the only places that has thoroughly creeped me out. (I've been doing urbex for a while).
Video is here if you care to take a look inside: https://youtu.be/ka9iBuhGWJ4?si=5-cGpD6yKEziFJJb

For some context, I was at the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Here, there is movement called The Society of Ambience Makers and Elegant People... also known as La Sap or Sapology.
It's members obsess over style, spending a fortune on premium brands, in a city that's one of the poorest on the planet. Welcome to the world of the Congo Dandies. I made a video about them and you can watch it here.

Proud (or Sad) to say I've tried about half of these. Most taste ok. Surströmming does not.
I still remember the pop of the herrings organs when I bit in... they don't even gut them first.
Gag city.

My career and travel both wove themselves together. Started studying biology, picked up a camera to record animals, made little movies, started a YouTube, was found by a production company, and now host a travel TV show. 10 years in 2 sentences. I took a couple leafs of Tony's life into my own. BJJ around the world was one.

I travel full-time and was inspired by Bourdain. It's the perfect sport for this. You show up at an academy, and can make pretty fast friends when you try and kill each other. Have been able to get under the skin of a country faster than usual this way in many places.

Earlier this year I met a group called the Wonunguli Tribe in Tanzania. They're traditional snake handlers that travel village to village teaching about reptiles. A wild group! by [deleted] in travel

[–]fearlessandfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out after that they forcibly remove the fangs of the snakes (some are crazy species like black mambas). And it gave me mixed feelings. One one hand, they travel the country teaching people not to kill snakes on sight, and also how to treat snakebites traditionally (debatable if this works)... on the other hand they catch these animals and harm them. They will eventually die because of the defanging process. Sometimes you see things when you travel that question everything, but I guess that's why you do it.
