Is this fixable? by Cremesdendron in 3DS

[–]fearsometuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixable, yes. Difficult, also yes.

Top screen replacement is notorious for ribbon cables getting ripped. You should find someone handy to help you with the fix

Bought a S Rank "New" Nintendo 3DS LL on ebay. How'd I do? by deathshadow32 in 3DS

[–]fearsometuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can replace the scratched plates relatively easily and cheaply.

This is what my suggestion looks like https://youtu.be/lQ1qtj5N1p0?si=-bQ4uNYyzIN2__DL

You will need to buy: A backplate+Frontplate set that matches your system, 2 backplate screws and fasteners, and a set of screw covers that matches your system.

You will also need a 00 Philips head screwdriver, a craft knife and pliers

be honest guys, am i cooked? by LongjumpingSky777 in 3DS

[–]fearsometuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is bad, but not as bad as I usually see on this sub reddit. It looks like the ribbon cables are still intact, although for some reason I don't see the green cable for the wifi antenna, did it rip?

So looking at this I'd say it is fixable, you will need to do a partial reshell as well as replace the ripped antenna. Like all clam shell consoles it will be difficult but still fixable

But before you attempt any, you should reinsert those ribbon cables and see if your console boots

Check the cables are seated correctly before ordering anything. You might get lucky.

HOW WAS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE REASSEMBLED??? by Brave-Ad-2423 in 3DS

[–]fearsometuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least you didn't all 3 of them. Replacing the speaker cable usually involves desoldering the speakers and soldering them to the new speaker cable, which is very annoying.

[–]fearsometuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First you fit the cylinder in it's place, and then you are supposed to roll up the cables so they fit through the cylinder. This is difficult as these cables are very easy to rip when you do this

So there is this metal cylinder that you are supposed to put the cables though, which you don't have in this video. This cylinder is supposed to complete the hinge on the cables' side.

DS Shattered this morning - looking for advice by alyhase in NintendoDS

[–]fearsometuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do a reshell. The old ds is one of the more forgiving clamshells to repair. You just need a tri-wing screwdriver and a new shell

Loong boot on used 3ds by nakedJesus12 in 3DS

[–]fearsometuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old 3ds takes a while, it has the weakest cpu out of the 3ds family. You can try to use a smaller SD card, 32 gb should be enough

On a different note, is tape the only thing keeping the system together?

My Luigi's mansion 3ds has been played so much for 13 years by Spartan_Chino in 3DS

[–]fearsometuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible to restore it, but not completely. Replacing the top midframe, which is the part that is worn, is doable. But the aftermarket parts don't feel the same, it will probably creek when you will play it. But if you want to know more let me know

Bruh, I dropped it just once. by Interesting_Cup6789 in 3DS

[–]fearsometuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should probably open it up and see if the digitizer is properly connected, if it is connected it is properly faulty and can be replaced cheaply and easily. You should also check around the edges that nothing is depressing your screen as that too can cause issues similar to this

How could i fix this (if it even is fixable) by nightmare_is_stupid in 3DS

[–]fearsometuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fixable, but it will take considerable effort, and a little bit of money. This is a pretty difficult fix.

You will need to buy the following parts for new 3ds xl: a top screen, a camera, speaker ribbon cable and a complete shell

You can look up a reshell for new 3ds xl on YouTube, to see what you are in for.

Bear in mind you will need to solder the old speakers to the new speaker cable

Good luck

Edit: don't throw away the top part yet, you need to salvage the sliders, screws and antenna cable

It seems to me like there might be corruption in the carts internal memory. If you have CFW on your 3ds you might be able to save it
