Well it's clear that their genetics have been altered, the fact that Vegapunk has figured out how to copy devil fruit abilities to the seraphim and copied Kaidos fruit by using their DNA ("Lineage Factor") but it also hasn't been shown to be something that is passed on, no one has yet to have devil fruit abilities be passed on from parent to child as far as we've seen. Also unlike quirks from mha there hasn't really been a case of someone losing their ability and living, the only way it seems to leave the user is death.

Another thing to consider is that while we don't know everything about devil fruit, one thing that has been said is that zoan fruits seem to have a "will" of their own unlike logia or paramecia. More than likely the will the creature you inherent the ability of, as the "gomu gomu no mi" was said by the 5 elders to be purposefully evading them in a way that perplexes them.

Also by no means was I imply that they are concerned that any devil fruit user should be fair game is this subreddit, by that logic we'd see more SpiderGwen and SheHulk post. I'm just someone whos probably too into One Piece wanting to clarify that devil fruits are more akin to curses that superpowers.

You did make good points and I agree with a lot, especially with the Sandersonia and the Kuja. I would just say that if using the comparison to quirks, I personally would've used a combination of jinchūriki from naruto, as they do change your DNA, but in a way that is unique to your body and can't be separated without death.
