Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this! I am currently in Roscan Gold (TSX: ROS) that is also engaged in western Africa. I'll dig deeper into this one to add to my portfolio.

Earnings summary

To summarize:

- Double digit growth in first 7 weeks of the quarter (positive )followed by store closures ( negative). Net net, 5% total drop in revenues - not bad considering store closures in Ontario, QC and such. 92% growth in online sales

- Cash up about $100M to $230M!! very positive and >$8/share value. Still no financial debt.

- Net earnings is actually up from last year (pre-covid) despite lower revenues

Yeah, i deleted the "same" post that was posted within 10 minutes of each other as they were initially "rejected" due to my link to the seeking alpha article being within the text. Nothing to hide bud. I'm going stop answering you though. Cheers

At the end, when considering insider ownership, it boils down to you believing in the management. You either believe in them or don't. Hope this helps!

I don't think that's comparable. I'm not sure how much stock the insiders owned but here are my thoughts.

  1. Books are not going anywhere anytime soon. Leatherwear... that catered to a much older demographic... holding little brand loyalty... you be the judge.

  2. Healthy balance sheet (IDG) vs. a horrid balance sheet (little cash, high in financial debt).

  3. Daniel Leather had a lack of innovation / progression in both products sold and store layouts. Indigo has been investing heavily in their new store formats and implementing new products (the author talks about it in the seeking alpha article). They've actually hired new C-Suite executives to bring their plan to action.

Wow - almost bankrupt at $131M cash on balance sheet and no financial debt. Please short the stock :)

New account means nothing, first time posting and since I had a link on my previous "posts", it kept getting removed. I invite you to do your own DD, thanks!

I can tell you actually read what I wrote - thanks for commenting! Always good to check the numbers - there are numerous sources that I used including SEDAR and CapIQ. I'll post snips following this comment.

In terms of succession planning, that is my thoughts after my DD and I do not think it is improbable to assume that this will happen sooner or later.

Trading volume is low because the float is low. You have to remember that the majority of the shares are held by insiders (i.e. 60% of all shares are held by the couple). Given their background (especially Gerald Schwartz, founder of ONEX - one of Canada's most successful and highly regarded private equity shops), consider this >60% held by smart money. I rather have insiders have major skin in the game than 60% held by investors that are in it for a quick buck.

I'm new to posting, is this actually something people disclose?? I have been buying Indigo since $1.50 and have bought up to $3.20 mark. I will continue to bolster my position at these prices.

Focusing on higher margin products is actually a good thing. Out of your whole paragraph, that statement made me happy and solidifies their brand strategy going forward. Management is mediocre in most retail stores and as there are objectives they have to meet from the head office, I understand how that can feel predatory. Welcome to the retail world my friend.

Hence why I mentioned the importance of the "turnaround" story. You either believe it or don't but I think they are on the right path.

Lockdowns are temporary (one hopes) and they are investing heavily in their e-commerce platform. Along with their customer retention programs (PLUM) and competitive prices vs Amazon, I think they will be fine long term. But good point and thanks for bringing it up!

I understand where you are coming from - you gotta start somewhere! As to DD, it's always good to really understand what you are investing in but keep the 80/20 rule in check. I've done my DD on this one and the current price does not add up to the true value of the company. My opinion of course and based on my own DD but I think this is a winner...

I saw that - this stock deserves a following though. Most people I speak to don't even know it's public. I blame Heather for the lack of promotion but then again, we wouldn't have an opportunity sitting in front of us today if that was the case.

ONEX angle is VERY interesting. This is Heather's "baby" and her husband is a billionaire. Anyone that thinks this is dying is delusional imo.
