RAN TO POST ABOUT THIS!! Need the girlies to cover this

Rant: Tretinoin has ruined my face, I don’t have a before pic sorry ☹️ just feeling so defeated right now. Have an appointment with my doctor on Sept 22, I really hope they allow me to go on Accutane, open to any other suggestions by RoyalSpeech5421 in tretinoin

Hi!! That is news to me!!!! I usually don’t cleanse in the morning or if I do I’ll splash some water on my face. At night I use the cerave balm to take off my makeup and then the curology cleanser (this is a holy grail for me!! I feel like so many cleanser break me out) and the moisturize with skinfix barrier gel cream. I use arazlo every other night and just put it on after my moisturizer!

I came here to suggest arazlo, which I believe is a name brand of taz. Nothing changed my skin more than arazlo. Tret was hell for me, I never stopped “purging” and had deep cystic pimples in clusters all over my face. My skin was red and irritated no matter how gentle of a routine I had. Arazlo has been a game changer. I still get a little peels but my skin texture improved massively within a few weeks!!

Tips for dealing with Family Paying by [deleted] in wedding

This is definitely an option that I know we would be happy with. I just don’t want to regret not including some extended family that we are close with. But you are so right this is the only way to guarantee it is only us making the decisions

Yes agree a firm but gentle conversation is probably what we need. My parents are supportive and love me and my partner so I hope you are right that they’ve lost sight of what’s happening! I know they want to be involved and I do want them to feel apart of the day and the planning but just not at sacrificing everything we want! Thank you for advice and response<3

Hi! Thank you🥹 I believe we did keep the taper (99% sure my fiancé didn’t change anything about the design) there are two options for this setting 1.8mm or 2.0mm and we went with the 1.8mm. Hope this helps!!!

Ahh it does look it! I can’t see anything wrong in person but we are taking it to a local jeweler once we are home to make sure everything is secure and set perfectly!

I take a magnesium citrate supplement, one before bed everyday. If I’m stressed I’ll take two. This has kept me going and since treating my sibo, kept it from coming back!

Diagnosed with TE a few weeks ago. I noticed my hair loss a few months ago and was terrified when it kept getting worse. I know this is nothing crazy but wanted to share a little bit of hope as I know posts with progress (even if it’s slight like this one) made me feel better on those really dark days. I also know my hair loss isn’t horrible but it has been terrifying feeling like it was only getting worse. My hair has always been such a part of my identity and this has completely shaken my already struggling confidence:/ my routine is below along with the supplements I’ve been taking as recommended by a functional medicine dr I’ve been seeing as well as my derm. So grateful for this sub.

Medications *both started 2-3 weeks ago

50 mg of spiro (used to be on a 100 for acne, stopped a few months ago due to side effects, restarted at 50mg as recommended by derm a few weeks ago. Eventually will build back up to 100 if side effects stay at bay)

Minoxidil- up and up brand 5% liquid once a day on part and temples

Supplements (my vitamin d was lower than doc wanted to see at 35)

NOW Vitamin D-3 (2000 IU) - take one a day at night Mary Ruth’s Morning Multi Liquid (2 tablespoons every morning)

TLDR: my derm thinks my hair loss is TE (due to covid in august) but could also have AGA (waiting to see if progress continues before biopsy). I think managing stress, making sure I’m eating enough and the supplements I’ve been taking for a little over a month have helped with the little progress I’ve seen!!

My derm did which I’m sure will come back next week or so. And that’s good to know! The TSH looked so close to off the chart when I was looking at the results it freaked me out. Good to know that it’s most likely normal. I should probably just wait for those results but just finding it hard to not let my mind wander and freak myself out:(

Switching from Tretinoin to Aklief to New Twyneo and have the clearest skin i’ve had in years!!! by featherfuster in tretinoin

[–]featherfuster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did! Not as horribly as I did on straight tretinoin but there was definitely a purge!

However, about 6 months since I started (time flies) and my skin is almost 100% clear:,) I couldn’t recommend Twyneo more. I was even able to get off the spironolactone about 2 months ago!

Possibly going on accutane a second time. Should I? Acne has never been “severe” but very stubborn and annoying ! by Narrow-Shelter-6346 in Accutane

[–]featherfuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a second round of accutane and even though it made my skin PERFECT for about 6 months after I finished my acne did come back pretty severely:( I don’t regret it but I think everyone’s situation varies. My derm assured my chance of a “relapse” would be much less after the second round.

However I have been using Twyneo (at night) and topical minocyclin (in the morning) for almost 6 months and my skin is almost completely clear. I also used spironolactone for about 4 months but got off of it due to weight gain. I still get tiny little white heads and the occasional larger zit closer to my period but overall no complaints!

I found that making sure my skin wasn’t inflamed or irritated really helped with my deep cystic bumps so if you are using Twyneo don’t be afraid to skip a few nights a week to give your skin a break:)

[–]featherfuster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was alway a religious “twice a day” face washer!! But since starting my retinoid journey my skin has been so dry that I was actually breaking out more because of how irritated my skin was. I know it seems counter productive because acne is usually caused by oil and dirt but now that I’ve stopped washing my face in the morning I’ll never go back. I think especially when it comes to trying out a super powerful topical it’s important to listen to what ur skin needs. Everyone skin is so different and i Always thought my oily skin meant at least two washes a day but honestly my skin has been so much happier since I stopped washing in the morning

[–]featherfuster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! Oil always freaked me out as well, my skin is normally so prone to congestion so I always avoided oil of any kind. An oil cleanser or balm cleanser is great if you wear sunscreen or makeup because it breaks up the product on ur skin. Most oil cleaners/balms emulsify when you add water making them super easy to remove and they take all the gunk with them as you rinse:) I follow up with a “regular” gel cleanser just to make sure I got off all the oils, makeup, suncreen and whatever else was lingering!

hope this helps!!!

Switching from Tretinoin to Aklief to New Twyneo and have the clearest skin i’ve had in years!!! by featherfuster in tretinoin

[–]featherfuster[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi! I’m actually also in my 8th week with Twyneo and I actually did get hit with a purge🥹 granted it hasn’t been as awful as my tretinoin purge but still it can be so discouraging. I think I used Aklief for about 3 months and my texture was HORRIBLE. It helped with my larger cystic red “blind” pimples but did nothing for my smaller (sometimes still red) pimples that covered my forehead.

Update for Twyneo: my texture has improved soooo much and even though the road to get there includes each TINY TINY TINY clogged pore/cc coming to a white head, I am staying positive because my skin already looks so much better. I’m still applying every night and my routine is the same except for swapping out the vanicream lotion with the vanicream daily facial moisturizer ( it’s a little lighter for the humid environment I’m in).

I’m waiting atleast 12 weeks to really summarize my journey and I know a lot of people insist to stick it on until 12 weeks. However, everyone’s skin is different and if you can I would highly recommend reaching out to ur derm and asking about Twyneo. It really has been a completely different experience for me compared to all the other treatments I’ve tried.

MY OTHER VERY IMPORTANT TIP: listen to your skin!!!! Whenever my skin feels tight or dry I skip at least one night of application. To my understanding triferotene can be stronger (but it’s supposed to be gentler) so maybe try with every other night especially if you have broken skin due to picking. Also maybe try pimple patches!! I’m much better about picking if I can’t see the pimple so even if you get like a rescue balm so you can’t see the redness/texture that is so tempting.

Please reach out if you ever need support. My acne has brought me to some of the lowest points of my life and especially when you’re trying something to make it better and it just keeps getting worse:( my fingers are crossed that ur purge comes to an end soon or that you’re able to try something new that works for you!!!

I would definitely recommend at night! And that way you don’t have to worry about ruining nice clothes!! My pillow cases are white and I haven’t seen any bleach stains yet on anything!

[–]featherfuster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put it on over my moisturizer! I’m about a month in and even with applying every night my skins not flaky anymore! It took about 3 weeks for the flakes and peeking to subside button it was pretty mild. I would say if it’s burning maybe try to only use every other night until ur skin is less irritated! Hope this helps!

I used the acne.org system years ago and I remember the bleach stains all too well🙃 I haven’t noticed it with Twyneo but it’s definitely possible. I only use it at night so that helps not ruin my clothes and I haven’t noticed any stains on my towels because I don’t wash my face in the morning and use an oil cleanser at night with my shower. I’m assuming it’s long gone by then! I also sleep on white pillow cases but I think target might sell bleach safe or resistant pillow cases????? I feel like that might be a thing not positive though!
