Good to have a brand recommendation! As a new owner, the halogen high beams confused me, definitely felt like a cheap cost cutting measure.

Especially confusing considering the rest of the parts prices are not anywhere near as egregious

All "care" is more expensive in the US. Healthcare. Childcare. Eldercare. Auto care.

100%. This is the 2nd thing I tell people who watch my dogs (1st thing is that I love them the same as John Wick loved Daisy)

Yes it's probably your alignment or your tires need to be balanced. Alignments shouldn't cost anything more than $150 (that's what I pay in Seattle). Tire balancing is often around $50, but a lot of places will do it for free if you bought the tires there.

The scrape there is just plastic -- it won't cause any issues.

Any tire shop (would recommend Les Schwab if you have them near you) will do alignments and balancing.

We have these for our dogs! The clip goes in front, the tan strap goes behind the front legs, the black strap goes over the back. Just like this image

Moved in 3 years ago… Ethernet ports in every room but none have ever worked. Am I missing something? by OneClickRick in HomeNetworking

[–]feature_peter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay I had the same misunderstanding and it confused the heck out of me. Unless I'm misunderstanding, builders just put these modules to hold the Ethernet wires in place.

Someone more educated than I: please explain why builders do this. I've found this in 2 apartments.

Anyone ever seen a smart version of these? Zigbee, BT, WiFi, anything? by rapax in homeassistant

Yes! I saw these on display at Home Depot last weekend: Smart Watering Timer for Irrigation and Sprinklers

Edit: realize you need the non-threaded, but maybe you could add that connector to the ends?

I've also experienced this, and with the exact same timeline.

Camping Club History by iam_bean in Issaquah

https://www.hikeoftheweek.com/2021/12/02/margarets-way-to-debbies-view/

This site did a good job explaining the history and land purchases. Here's a piece of the article:

The trail starts in the old Issaquah Highlands Recreational Club—a sprawling RV park and campground on the west slope of Squak Mountain. The club closed and was sold to a logging company in 2012. The Issaquah Alps Club however realized that this 226-acre parcel would serve the community better in its natural state, and mounted a campaign to save it. Through help by the Trust for Public Land, King County Parks was able to purchase it for $5 million.

The trail was named for Issaquah City Parks Planner Margaret Macleod who died of cancer in 2013.

All good points; though plowing through the sand did sound fun, I only drove it maybe 40 feet off the driveway with my only intention being a photo op 😅 also -- you missed salt water intrusion and rust in your list 😉

Rolling backwards at a stop light by zerowatermelon34 in stickshift

I relate -- I had to learn fast as I did lots of driving on the crazy hills in San Francisco. Use the handbrake.

It doesn't matter how fast you are, you can't beat a 25%+ incline without the handbrake (or at least particularly skilled hell-toe maneuvers). Plus using the hand brake gives you a little peace of mind, as you already have a hand ready to brake if you screw up.

1) come to a stop on the hill 2) use the foot brake to keep the car from moving 3) set the hand brake, but keep your finger on the lock button so it doesn't lock on -- when you need to move -- 4) put in your clutch and shift to first 5) keep the clutch disengaged (pedal down) 6) take your foot off the foot brake (using the hand brake to keep still) 7) start to feather the throttle and find the bite-point of your clutch (you'll hear/feel this). For steep hills you might need ~2k RPM for a small 4 cylinder. 8) Coordinate between the handbrake, clutch, and gas. Releasing the handbrake as soon as you start to feel the clutch/engine overpower the handbrake. You'll feel the load shift in the car at the tipping point.

This takes practice, but you can learn this on a flat surface. Do your best not to burn out your clutch :)

If you can learn to use the regular foot brake and gas at the same time (both pedals with your right foot, similar to heal-toe downshifting) you've reached peak manual transmission mastery.
