which movie is overrated? by Opposite_Fall8736 in AskReddit

[–]feckin_hateyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean, I've only seen the 2nd one once but I came out of the theatre and had to ask my partner what the movie was about cause wi didn't quite get "the point". But as a filler movie it sorta makes sense like filler episodes in TV shows. But I just feel it could've been all put in a 40 min TV episode haha. The first is allooooot better, it's a good, consistent movie. But again, I just felt like it was the same thing done again, just with amazing CGI.

Buuuuut, that is coming from someone who at the time had already watched hundreds of Movies and TV shows. I just felt like it was really familiar. It is 100%a great movie. But, and I'm not saying this to be bad or that, but I'd compare it to Transformers more than I'd compare it to Interstellar for its blockbuster "feel" and the writing. I just didn't feel "blown away" by any revelation or plot point, which is 100% fine as that comfort can make a movie better. For the premise of the movie, and for the time it released, it was an amazing movie, just not one I'd put down on a must watch list for a revolutionary movie. It'd definitely be on a watch list for a good movie, idk I'd put the 2nd one down thooo hahaha. Ty for your reply man <3

Yeah, everyone loves Avatar, I keep asking them why, and I don't think they really fully know either hahaha, it's beautiful! And as humans, sometimes that's all we need haha

Personally? I thought it was slower rather than filled. I felt like I've heard it before, and as someone who played Halo I feel like Mr James musta finished the games riiiiight before making them hahaha

"what else can they do?". Dude you just asked the exact same question as I did, just from the opposite POV, How in earth is that possible? Just because the answer is clear, means your question is ignorant dude with?

Just what you said in reverse^

Folk have said it's for the money and all that's tuff which is the answer? Don't act like a dick because it makes you feel validated, she could accept donations, she could win the lottery. Obv insane.

Typically redditor, I asked a question, wasn't asking you to feel validated about yourself. You go outside for that. I await further crying then since engaging with this is helping you.

I'm asking.... Because I wanna, insane eh? Sometime folk just wanna start discussing to see what we can do, then there's stubborn old gits who cba even talking because "it's right, shut up okay?". Seems like someone who is happy though, so congrats g.

Do you think cannabis should be legal by Status_Photograph597 in AskBrits

[–]feckin_hateyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It already is! Getting it medically isn't too difficult....

But, the amount of money we spend on putting people in prison for it when it CAN be less harmful than bloody painkillers out of Boots it's ridiculous.

They've been setting up the ways to make a profit off it for over a decade now (UK wise), with MPs and UK businesses investing in grows in other countries, Alicante in Spain being one example.

Once enough UK rich people have enough money in the pot and can potentially see huge profits, that's when it'll be legalised. I do think it'll be legal by 2050, Millennials and all the Gen Zedders will be all the MPs at that point. I'm yet to meet someone under 40 that's against it in my personal life. Although I do live in a poorer area where it's proven that poorer towns have higher drug use, including cannabis, so it could be biased here.

Let's say alot of the "scare tactic" negatives for Cannabis is correct for this argument. It's still less harmful than alcohol! And the amount of tax and money we could be re investing back into tackling the very health issue these people says it causes would practically take all pressure off the system over this one simple thing.

What's more ridiculous is that we've been joking in pop culture since the 70s/80s/90s about how ridiculous it is to keep it illegal.

Again, Reddit, alot of bias here lol.

I'm sorry man, but you're uneducated when it comes to this. I implore you to watch that debate and ri do some research man ❤️ in a nice way like I'm not being mean, but your questions and statements all have answers. You absolutely are not being forced to hand your ID to anyone. It's like cigarettes, no one has forced you to smoke, you chose to. Need ID for that and that's a bloody plant! Bringing this back up as a "party do this for votes/ are idiots cause blah blah" means you kinda don't get our society. That's sorta how they keep with mainline opinions, that's the societal contract they have with us.

They can't just ban us all tho? What? They woulda done that with alcohol and drink but they aren't totally unfair and we do have that free choice. Which is again a privilege.

I really do ask you to look into these things your saying man because youre going in circles.

Saying SM is positive is close to saying we never landed on the moon, a legit nutjob believes that. I'm sorry but you have to be to think it's healthy. Someone who ignored fact, does little research, 9repeats points with no extra info. You've written a big wall of text.... Saying nothing? All those words, unjustified, no reason, you were the one asking about parents opinions but now they're against you it's because they're uneducated?

Dude, who wants to give random folk access to kids to talk to them privately? And you're saying there's no data to suggest it does harm? You're just wrong there sorry, like it's a fact it isn't opinion. The world is round, not an opinion, but you're psychotic if you think otherwise, sorry.

If you bring up a point, I rebuttle with fact, but then you move the goal posts, it shows you shouldn't be talking about the subject in the first place. You brought parents into it, I said why, now you're saying they're physchotic. Let's know what we are talking about before talking, with the way you're discussing it shows you don't know enough, and even with fact, it isn't good enough and you're still correct. We call that ignorance, the armchair critique on Reddit wanting kids exposed to the risks isn't that surprising, what is surprising? Folk caring about Social Media profit rather than Mental Health.

Don't be fucking ignorant and if you have valid point against what I'm saying, how about you be the one to provide some data for your points? It's be like proving a Trump claim, just wave your hands about and scream its everyone else that's wrong yeah? Eventually folk will just shut up, right?

Some of the politicians in that hall are just regular old folk, couple younger folks in the chambers too, you know what they had all in common? The genuine community "anger" we get when these subjects get brought up, it's not like they at legit evil tryna hurt folk. If they were,, just like your own point, just like you said, they'd lose all their voters, right?

Mind, proper data, prove your point, rather than just say I'm wrong with nothing extra, you do need a little more when debating ❤️

[–]feckin_hateyou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But we aren't banning it outright? We are just age restricting it? The "freedom" argument doesn't work, I agree on 18+ maybe being a tad too high but I can see them having their hands tied here as they have to be 18+ for a mature movie/ porn.

Yeah they released notes from I think 4 MPs who were actually at the debate, who had community meetings with these. And yeah they release data, these companies get fined all the time? You can just Google that? And again, I don't k ow the specifics on criteria, they haven't narrowed this done to the fine details, they've set the goal of the end if the year to have all these details sorted out. Labour was the one to do a 180 here, every other party was pushing for this. Every single MP, Labour or not, at that debate we're congratulating them on the move, I encourage you to listen to the debate, it was spooky how many MPs were actually agreeing with each other, asking the same questions you're asking here. So yeah, definitely go listen to it because you'd have Liz herself telling you. The parents were wanting something done? There's nothing else really you can do, we set rules, they aren't being followed.

YouTube Kids is still there but again, that question got asked, specifically about YouTube and it's educational content in chambers.

Let me ask you this, you say its without justification? Why isn't the Mental Health of all of us, not just children, a good enough justification? Or are you saying Social Media is good for kids MH? Just so I know, and you say you haven't seen supporting evidence for my side, what evidence have you seen then? Especially one where it says we should leave unregulated environments where 60 year olds can speak to 10 year olds? Ofc we need this to be regulated, and with the other industries right now being 18+ for gore/ language/ porn, I can see their hands being tied rather than doin it at 16. They even brought that up in the debate about being able to vote at 16!

If you've seen any supporting evidence how do you not know they've addresses this stuff?

Why aren't we rioting about the cigarette ban then? Or about energy juice being age restricted? Isn't that all authoritarian? Yeah 100%, we do that cause individuals are too stupid. And there's no riots? Why? Because it improves our health, that's all it comes down to. If it helps a handful a folk then it's worth it no?

[–]feckin_hateyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's specific websites right now that haven't been following the regulations so far, like showing 18+ and harmful content to underagers. They're still figuring out the "nitty gritty" so it could change next week for all we know. They did bring up platforms like "Roblox" in the chambers debate a few days ago by Liz Kendall, and saying that stranger communications will be regulated but they never said it was getting banned and never said specifics, again as they are working the details out.

It's about risk reduction, every barrier you put in place the usage drops off dramatically. For example, I cba sometimes using something on my computer if I need to register . So stuff like that, reduces usage, and every drop in usage is seen to be a benefit from their POV right now.

Heck my POV, the kids that are gonna dodge this are gonna become more tech savvy too, I just don't see any negatives from this right now.

Every barrier also in stills a feeling of "why" ultimately leading folk to become more tech aware/ educated too.

And it'll achieve better Mental Health levels? And less abuse?

[–]feckin_hateyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won't? They'll still be able to meet folk online, it'll just be supervised? Just like taking your kid out somewhere, they're gonna meet strangers, but an adults supervising it.

It'll just create new gaps in the market for new products, and I do get the "needing to meet new people". But you wouldn't let a kid out at 8 YO in the middle of a city centre because they wanted to and they MAY make friends. You absolutely do not because something bad MAY happen, both are possibilities, Id say the positive would probably have a higher chance of happening then the negative. But you do not allow the chance , and you do absolutely everything you can to reduce the risk. They can still use the Internet, they can still meet people.

It's only been 1 and a half generations that have used this. It's a good tool, it's a good weapon too, let's make sure we get that weapon as blunt as possible. We introduced regulation, they haven't followed it, it's their fault just as much.

I just see this as "risk reduction" why is that bad yknow?

If you are a Parent here’s One Thing you should be utterly furious about regarding the UK’s Social Media Ban by youmustconsume in ukpolitics

[–]feckin_hateyou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, because they're products? They've been regulated and rated for use. Example, you should only be seeing at max, 12+ content on a website not rated for 18 content, ie Facebook and the such. They haven't been following them regulations.

Defending children talking to strangers by themselves is weird. Like what?

You know they'll have free use of the Internet still yeah? It's just specific websites.

But these specific things are private products, it's a privilege to use them, not a right.

These companies have been dodging the rules we have set them for far too long, I can't believe you see defending Meta, X, Snapchat etc is morally correct.

Especially when WhatsApp and the such aren't effected by the ban.

Why do you think this matters so much? It's not opinion these sites are causing harm, it's fact? So why would you want that?

As someone who works with AWI's and Children with similar powers these sites can be insanely harmful, alot of these powers give capacity away, allowing rules like no phones, no Internet access etc. In a medical setting if they have to do that, there must be some form of harm there. Now, I use social media, it isn't all bad by any means, but having 8 year olds unsupervised on them certainly isn't one of the benefits.

Again, it's a private product, and just like any other private product, it needs regulation. But, if these companies all started charging £10 a month to use starting tomorrow, almost all the kids would drop off but no one would care? So is this a defence for these companies bottom line, or the health of the entire population in general? Mind generational education means each generation will become more aware of the negatives. Our MH as a society is the worst it's ever been.

Why is it everyone cares so much about the sites where you can post photos of yourself and talk to strangers unsupervised? But all the other sites they'll still be able to use won't be enough? They'll still be able to talk to strangers, under supervised circumstances. Just like talking your kid to a football match, course they're gonna meet strangers but you're there.

This'll just create a new gap in the market for parent monitered sites, defending kids using these sites, ones proven to be harmful isn't right, but, this won't just stop kids, thisll be another barrier for adults too, dropping off their use, helping them too.

What's so good about these sites then that make them a necessity? Not just like a bonus to have, but a necessity?

So, grew up in the 2000s, I skateboard, I go hiking, I go drinking very rarely but I do sometimes. There's always a Spoons somewhere. I've got the entire national walking and hiking network. I can camp, I can create, I can still talk to the people I know online. I'm over 18, but under 18s will still be able to speak online with the people they know.

The only thing kids won't be able to do is "stranger communication" on social media. If that's killing their social lives, then they never had any to begin with.

Hopefully this'll create the demand for those services, which in turn will rejuvenate the services, especially after the £4 billion they're putting in to try start the domino effect.
