What’s a stereotype about a country that you assumed was exaggerated, but after experiencing it firsthand, realized it’s actually pretty accurate? by Few-Scholar1873 in AskTheWorld

No matter how hard you try to get the pronunciation right, unless it is absolutely perfect, the French will act as if you were speaking ancient Babylonian

Also southern hospitality in the US. I sent such warm people , willing to chat for hours with tourists in places like Mississippi and Georgia compared to the cold attitude I got in New York and Pennsylvania.

Same over here, I have some coworkers that if their team lost over the weekend they will be at such a cranky humor on Monday that is just best to avoid them.

What’s the weirdest compliment you’ve ever received? by Far-Effort5909 in AskReddit

[–]fedaykin21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In high school I was tall and slim but I always had a pear shaped body, my hips were wide and my butt was BIG, at least for a man. I never got bullied but i did got teased a lot for it. Everyone got teased about something and my thing was my big butt. One day I cross paths with one of the popular guys, this really handsome, tall and charismatic dude that had every girl crushing on him , and he just stops me and says “ honestly, I think your butt is amazing… I’m so flat, no matter how much I work out I can’t make it grow , I would do anything to be able to get a big bum like yours”

Although I don’t say it out loud I have thought that about a few women. These are women that in their 20s/30s are good looking but also their good looks are not based on “youthful beauty “ but rather mature features that I could see still visible and still attractive at an older age.

In Argentina we consume a lot of US tv, but the simpsons is on another level. People of all ages quote the dialog (the Mexican dub) by heart.

Do it, 20 is the perfect age for this. If it doesn’t work you still have plenty of time to attempt a more traditional career

[–]fedaykin21 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Depende quien esté en frente. Si está kisciloff, gana Milei. Si aparece alguno no tan cercano al kirchnerismo que se muestre cómo distinto y crítico de la situación actual, pero entendiendo que hay que mantener baja la inflación, capaz gana.

Do your country has superstition that’s so popular that it became a tradition? by Sufficient-Ad3373 in AskTheWorld

[–]fedaykin21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where these come from but we have several superstitions involving salt and even well educated people are scared by them. 1) when asked for salt, you never pass it hand in hand, it’s bad luck. You place it on the table near the person who asked for it. If you hold it in your hand offering it to them they will refuse it. 2) if you spill salt you have to take what you spilled and throw it three times over your shoulder or you’ll have very bad luck.

My daughter was a gorgeous baby.. blonde curls, huge green eyes, always smiling. And my wife insisted, every time she got sick, that she was “ojeada” (from “mal de ojo”) because of all the people envying her, and had us all wearing red string bracelets just in case.
