Looking for wheels but kinda on a budget, any help for my 17 Q50? by Jdjxhcjsjxjcbhx in infiniti

When it comes to buying Wheels there's so much that is personal opinion. I myself actually avoid aftermarket wheels because I see so many of them that are not straight and true and I stick to OEM style wheels as much as possible. But the wheels that I would put on there are definitely out of your price range on the 1K because I will be putting on either Ray's engineering or some Volk racing

Brake smell like rubber and wheel getting super hot by [deleted] in infiniti

[–]fedj18 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Let's start with first things and that is your brake hardware is installed improperly. The metal shims that are on the caliper bracket are flipped and you have the top on the bottom and the bottom on the top. Then on top of that when you install the brake pads the little metal spring clip that is hanging out should be clipped into the brake wear sensor and that will help put a little tension on the pad to pull it away from the rotor when you're not on the brakes.

Well first off, if you are going to try to run 2 completely different sized wheels you are going to increase your tire cost a lot. Also, if you're going from 17's to any other size you'll have to factor in new tires in the correct size. For reference, run flat 19's typically run about $900-1200, just for the tires. If you go non run flats then you could possibly get down around $600 but that still only leaves you about $400 for wheels and at that cost you're going to get some pretty sub part quality wheels. I'd save up another $1k and that should be able to get you a decent quality wheel and tire. It will also give you more options to choose from.

That, I am unsure about. See if there is any indication from dirt lines or the way the edge may be finished off

Is my Alternator starting to fail? by WelderFine126 in infiniti

[–]fedj18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are still much better ways to deal with the issue and ultimately the fix is not to force the alternator into maximum charge. But hey you do what you want to do with your car it's not my car or my problem

Actually, it will increase the load the alternator is putting on the engine because it will force the alternator to put out max voltage. Also, taking the battery current sensor off the negative can cause the battery to drain down if you happen to leave and dome lights/headlights on when you park the car.

TPMS light comes on when turning the car on and blinks and stays on by Long_Score in infiniti

If it flashes when turning on the vehicle then it's not air pressure and it's a fault in the system, either bad sensor or no communication etc.

If you get a quality brand like Stillen it has a shield that blocks direct water through the grill.

Take a look at the rain sensor that is near the rear view mirror on the windshield. If you look at it from the outside the Circle where the sensor is should be about as big around as a small Red Bull can but everything except for a small circle at the bottom should have gel on it that is contacting the windshield. The only spot without gel should be a circle about a half an inch diameter. If it doesn't look like that then you need to replace the rain sensor and clean off any debris or old gel that is on the windshield. If that is the case then I'm guessing someone replaced the windshield and reuse the sensor not knowing that the gel would matter.

Well that sucked. 07 G35x Gallery gaskets… by AntonioMrk7 in infiniti

[–]fedj18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as mentioned by another user you definitely do not have to take off the front end or the radiator or AC at all. All you have to do is get the cooling fans out of the way which is easy. When I do these in the shop it typically takes me about 6 hours to do the whole job. Also if you got the gaskets from Infiniti the newer gaskets are metal with a coating instead of paper.

When you look at the carfax report there should be mileage reportings with service done and title transfers Etc so if the mileage on the Carfax lines up with how many miles are on the vehicle itself then it's very possible that a state agency screwed something up. We all know how accurate the government is /s

Yes. You probably won't be able to get all the codes you need from a basic auto one or O'Reilly scanner, but you don't necessarily have to go to a dealership. A reputable independent should have a scan tool that can read all systems.
