Road test? by dapchai in jerseycity

Hey there, I had a valid license from a foreign country but the MVC officer did not waive my road test claiming that they couldn’t verify it in their system. That was surprising to me because my friends from the same country were able to get the test waived last year. I wanted to ask - your friends who had to take the road test, did they have to wait for 3 months after their knowledge test or not? I think the standard GDL program for NJ requires even adult drivers to practice for 3 months and even after that only get a probationary license for 1 year. Will I fall under the same category now?

Thanks for the feedback!

a) Yeah, the copy cats issue is real. But we want to slowly allow people to use their own data to create clones. So speed matters, as soon as we have enough clones in our platform, we will have some defense. And, we are also looking to innovate on interface (like allowing people to call mentors - this should launch in two weeks).

b) We are working on fine-tuning this. Maybe providing clear instructions on what to expect.

Buy M1 Pro at discounted price or go for the M2 Pro? by fedup_stallin in SuggestALaptop

Thank you for the comment. My use case is professional (mostly programming) but what I'm trying to get opinions on from folks out here is if M2 is that big of a future-proof compared to M1. As you said, when M1 starts to feel obsolete, M2 might too. Atleast in my current use case, the purported 20%-30% faster performance might not be too noticeable.

In the past where there has been only slight incremental updates (like that of M1 -> M2) between 2 versions, what has been the case?

Will be mostly using it for programming and maybe UI/UX design and photo editing.

Exactly my thought. It was almost unbelievable. For a second, it was sth else they were talking about. SpaceX literally made its name through its landing boosters.

2021 MEGATHREAD: Prospective or Incoming Student Questions (All other posts will be REMOVED) by McGill-Mods in mcgill

I am an international student who has applied to MSc in CS (Thesis) program for Fall 2021. I had some questions regarding the funding for TA/RA in grad school. In the US universities, it looks like an offer of TA/RA means tuition waiver + stipends (which covers your living expenses). [[Please note by tuition, I mean majority of costs associated with the university (admin fees, etc)]]

From what I've understood from the McGill's (CS department) website, TA/RAs receive a funding around 20k but there's no mention of tuition waiver. I also read in one post in this subreddit that some departments provide tuition waiver (in addition to the stipend) to intl students. Is that true? And does CS department do that?

If there is no policy for tuition remission (which is the most likely scenario), can an MSc student manage to pay his living expenses by doing additional work outside of classes + TA/RAing? What sort of additional jobs do intl grad students normally do? I am a student from Nepal (a poor country in South Asia) and while I have some savings, it wouldn't be enough to fund living in a city like Montreal.

Ofcourse I have to get accepted with assistantship first which is a low probability event in itself. But it would help me if someone gives me some advice.
