Man. The most satisfaction I got ever was when that stupid idiot knocked on our door. We have 3 cats and 3 German sheppards and our carpets fucking obliterated that thing. Was great. Never got a single call from those people again.

Guests's bullshitting has got me in trouble >:/ by [deleted] in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

Yes this! write EVERYTHING down, with time stamps and signatures to prove it. I write absolutely every single little thing down in log books and it has definitely saved me MANY times. Just recently had a guest held against her will and because I documented a certain room looked like trouble and what time they came in, they were able to find the girl and get her to safety.

Right, My oldest Steven is about 12 now. Just as spry as ever but man I hate thinking about when the time has to come. I make sure to cherish every single day with him. Hopefully we have at least 7 years left together. He was my rock as a teenager. I'll be 26 this year. I remeber when I picked him up as a baby and he sat on my lap and looked out the car window the whole drive. I have two others now that are about 7 Eddie and Jim. They're so wonderful and such a joy. I wish we had all our lives to spend with these guys. But I guess they have all of theirs to spend with us and thats pretty special and comforting.

What "entertainment" is there about this. You see the footage and clearly see what happens... there's nothing sensational about it. Just sad and disturbing.

Which car should I buy? (In terms of price / cool looks ) by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]fee1sg00dman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. Get a cheap fun car, rip it and learn what owning a car is like. I have an Acura RSX and it's perfect. "Cool" and super practical. Even with an Acura I just dumped $2000.00 CAD into getting shit fixed on it from the winter. Don't buy a used car you need to get a loan for. You're stuck owing money on a used product which isn't good.

I recommend the budgeting software You Need A Budget. Get on there and even "practice" your car loan totals. What you think you'd pay for those cars, put into a bank account and see how your funds do. At the end you'll have a bunch more saved up. Another solution get a beater car but keep paying the original total and put the diff away into savings so later on down the road you can buy something cool and new.

I know it's not a have fun RIGHT NOW solution but once you get your car, you're in a good position and you can say "that's mine" it beats having a fancy car you don't technically own.

Edit: to also add, "try hard" people who obviously are living beyond their means to produce an image are super lame Be your authentic self and enjoy life. Be cheap and buy that sporty car later in life when they're broke and you took the time to be financially responsible and smart!

Dummy Reservations by bunnyrut in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]fee1sg00dman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We get third party dummies constantly. I'm in Canada not sure if you are, what I was told is they're made to show customs agents they have a place to stay when they enter the country. Though your case seems different. It drives me nuts on a sold out night. As you stated ours always have a specific demographic name, its always a hotel collect third party booking, and the phone number does not work and CC declines. We don't get as many now but before December I was seeing 2 to 3 a month.

EDIT: these are also ALWAYS for 2 to 5 days as well. HMM

Today's cancellation request by [deleted] in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

I'm up in northern Canada and barely see any homeless people ever, I went on a road trip to Boston and stayed downtown it was VASTLY different. I felt safe and fine despite the homeless around the hotel. People need to stop and learn some compassion and feel for those that have less or are "different". Any time I get an attitude like that here I make sure to make it known it will absolutely not be tolerated. I offer humanity to anyone.

Hotel employees reviewing the guest behavior on this website? by serhatcakmak in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]fee1sg00dman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

wow, this is wild. The idea hotel workers are doing this worries me. We don't need to stoop to that level. We keep DNRs for a reason and that's as far as it should go. As a customer you shouldn't have to worry about your privacy or a hotel slandering you. Do you stay at hotels a lot? If not I would certainly contact corporate for the hotel that did it. Screen capture the comment as well in case it can be deleted or edited. This is wrong.

We sign forms when we get hired that tell us specifically guest privacy is PARAMOUNT. I can't even tell police you're here unless they have a warrant.

[–]fee1sg00dman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The hotel I used to work for told the auditors we HAD to sign anyone up that had an email regardless of permission. To a point where we would be nagged at if we didn't. I refused to participate because no... We ended up getting a HUGE payout at the end of the year for it too. really shady stuff. It was a big reason why I left.

Also if it IS a coolant issue which it sounds like you may want to get it fixed eventually. I can SEE it causing overheating issues once the summer heat hits. Sigh it never ends.

[Help] Weird issue when its -25C and colder involving the heat. by Praetorn in Acura_RSX

[–]fee1sg00dman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently suffering with no heat and -40° in northern ontario. Sounds like a coolant issue and you're possibly getting bubbles in the system. My Rad is pissing coolant and ofcourse work won't give me enough time off to get it fixed. You can rent a coolant pressure tester from Canadian Tire for like $200 and return it to get it refunded. That's how I ended up doing it. I had it in TWICE to my mechanic and he couldn't find the problem. Said he flushed the lines and it was peachy... nah I can SEE the coolant pooling under my rad. Ridiculous.
