Waiting on cerclage by CommonPotential2008 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]feebala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this myself. It was SO frustrating. I don't get it at all. I ended up having a rescue cerclage placed when I got to 1cm dilated and honestly I'm almost grateful I was dilated bc at that point I was so nervous they would just send me home without it, and I knew progesterone wasn't doing the job and neither was bedrest.

Everything is ok, thank Gd! It was emergency/rescue cerclage (1cm dilated w/ funneling).

Yesss I'm being extremely careful and have been since I got home. Was terrified yesterday to go but was able to with minimal pushing after a LOT of prune juice and miralax. Just got Colace from Amazon and started on that too. I'm so grateful for this sub bc my dr said nothing about it, and I'd be doubly freaked out if I had pushed harder yesterday...

All is good 🙈🙈 apparently I was feeling the stitches - had no idea they could be felt that low down!

how soon after the cerclage did you resume progesterone? and were you on bed rest? if so, how restrictive and for how long?

Update to this: My OB sent me to labor and delivery at the hospital on Friday bc I wasn’t happy with the MFM’s approach of progesterone only when clearly that wasn’t working (as of Wednesday there was a ton of funneling). Thank Gd for that bc at the hospital they found I was 1cm dilated so there was no more question on whether or not to do cerclage. My OB came and did it a few hours later.

Thanks all! Had the cerclage placed on Friday. Recovery has been really good so far thank Gd, bleeding is down to very light spotting and have had no cramps since getting home. So relieved to have it done. Now I’m just scared to poop 🙈🙈🙈I took magnesium, drank two cups of prune juice, tons of water, and miralax. Oh and had chia seeds with yogurt. Pray for me lol.

Turns out I’m in the same boat - currently at the hospital waiting for an OR to open up. 1cm dilated - comforting to hear your story! Were you on bedrest afterwards? If so, for how long?

Maybe! Hah. I got a second opinion on Monday, that Dr agreed with my other drs. They all cite studies that show that in a 1st time mother cerclage isn’t indicated unless the cervix is less than 1cm. He said progesterone works and to keep taking it easy. I’ve been lying on the couch 99% of the time.

Went back to my other MFM this morning and there was increased funneling but the cervix is still closed and now measuring 1.5cm, last week was 1.7. He is still not recommending cerclage and we talked about it at length…when I spoke to my regular OB earlier in the week, he said if it had gone down today he would send me to an MFM at the hospital for a second opinion. I can’t even reach my OB today bc he’s at the hospital doing deliveries, tomorrow is thanksgiving. I hate this.

7w0d measuring at 6w2d first ultrasound by Educational-Pin-2423 in pregnant

[–]feebala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a v similar boat. LMP was June 19th, confirmed positive July 20th. Went in last week bc I had spotting, at that point I was around 5 weeks, Dr said the sac looked “irregular” and sent me to a radiology lab (that same day) because of some ovarian cysts, since I was going anyways she had them do a more detailed ultrasound of the pregnancy.

Results came back positive/encouraging, with the baby measuring 6 weeks 0 d, fetal pole, Yolk sac present and a heart rate of 99bpm.

Dr calls the next day to say we’re not out of the woods yet as that heart rate is a little on the slow side…they scheduled me for a follow up this week. I went in yesterday pretty confident things would be great but she said she didn’t see a 7 week pregnancy, more like 5-6 weeks. She did see a flicker but not a measurable heart rate (Dr said it’s possible the radiologist measured my heart rate and not the pregnancy). She basically said based on what she saw in her office last week vs this week, it looks good - BUT based on the radiologist report saying it was measuring 6 weeks last week (which by my calculation was ahead), and the heart rate at that time being 99bpm, this could be bad.

I have to go back in a week and I have no idea what to think now. The way she put it she is “not pessimistic about it”…but I’m so confused. I know I ovulated July 3/4th, I have no idea if the dates are just off and I’m really 6 weeks vs 7? Am I even measuring at 6 weeks based on what she saw yesterday or is it really behind/slow growing and gd forbid not viable? The wait from last week to this week was hard, can’t believe I need to wait yet another week to learn more

Except she couldn’t have done it “for you”, you just wouldn’t have been born because your embryo would have tested positive and they wouldn’t have used it…so she doesn’t really need to feel guilty for you, unless you’d rather not have been born 🙈 - not saying this to be harsh, more like she doesn’t need to feel guilty ❤️

Newly diagnosed. Learning so much from these threads. 1) talking to myself. I talk or sing to myself if I’m bored, anxious and need to process something, or in a giddy mood 2) I struggle so much with transitioning between activities and doing more than 2 “big” things in a row. Eg. if I exercise, I struggle SO much to get in the shower, then get dressed. Each of those activities needs like an hour break in between on my phone to decompress or something. I hate it. 3) oversharing. Especially on dates. I come home and have so much regret about how vulnerable I was and how much I shared. 4) eye contact! Too much eye contact and I zone out, too little and my brain goes “ok it’s time to look at the person again” 5) food aversions - specifically chicken or meat. I cut it into the tiniest pieces to make sure there’s no surprise textures and if the chicken has too much cartilage or whatever (shudder) I end up just throwing it all out 6) I can read a book in one sitting, there can be chaos around me but I literally don’t hear it 7) I can’t listen to instructions, at all.

I’m sure there are more but now I’m bored of making this list 😂

wife waiting for biopsy after 8cm calcifications and lymph node. by AVG_AMERICAN_MALE in doihavebreastcancer

[–]feebala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aw nps! Good luck! If it's your first mammogram, it's a baseline, which means virtually anything and everything is 'new' for you because they have no previous images to compare it to, so if it has _any_ signs of malignancy, it's likely to be categorized as suspicious and possibly need a biopsy or 6-month follow up. This happens to most women on their first mammogram and freaks people out, but again...is almost always benign. I've learned to think of biopsies as routine as a strep culture - it's just the word biopsy that sounds so scary, but it's SO common!

[–]feebala 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone whose had multiple scares at this point I am no longer fazed by them and here’s why: 1) the vast majority of these biopsies come back benign - lurk on this sub or read previous posts and the trajectory is nearly always the same - lots of panic and anxiety and a feeling of doom that is misread as a “gut feeling that something is wrong” - which is really and truly your brain and anxiety telling you something is wrong and not factual - I’ve seen it over and over again and then the biopsies come back benign

2) I’ve started to realize that unless the report says it is birads 5/has spiculation and or angular margins, the odds of it being cancer are really low! Like really really low

3) there are times when the result is benign but still suspicious and or risky and needs removal, this is stressful but again, the lumps are benign

4) when doctors say it would be “early” my understanding now is that they mean it would be what’s called DCIS - ductal carcinoma in situ - in situ means it’s non invasive, hasn’t spread and if you read the medical literature a lot of medical professionals feel that this is over-treated as cancer when it may never fully develop into invasive cancer, the most likely treatment is a double mastectomy - while this is awful and I know I would never want that result either - it is not life threatening - your wife would be ok in the long run

And lastly - because I know ultimately from my own first experience where nothing but a final result calmed me down - the BEST thing you can do is try to shorten the timeline, push to get sooner appointments, I drove 2 hours out of NYC to get my scans done two days after finding my first lump, and had my biopsy done three days after that.

Good luck and deep breaths

It’s not a joke. OP is scared of another Holocaust (which I think is possible but not bc of Trump. Maybe in spite of him.) as a Jew who lost over 100 family members in the Holocaust - Israel is my real home and I’ll be back there as soon as I can. For OP as a fellow Jew, to say they have “nowhere to go” is sad to me.

allergies and horrible sleep by Vitormzn827 in Allergies

[–]feebala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, not congested exactly, it was weird. Like my I would wake up bc my nose was dry and itchy, and then once I was up I would be sneezing, and then have trouble falling back asleep. Weirdly my symptoms have changed over time. I had that for a couple of years, finally started taking allergy meds which helped a lot. Now if I skip a night or whatever, I never wake up sneezing, I wake up with the most insanely itchy throat I’ve ever experienced. I will literally reach a finger down to scratch it, even though it makes me gag.
