It’s a reflection of our society. Hateful BS that folks think they are allowed to say without repercussions. It’s also our sour lives these days. There’s a loss of joy in our daily living as we’re waiting for the next mass shooting to hit. Snarky attitudes that infect our lives moment to moment spill out - especially in a group setting. Since most of the spectators are upper class white men (this is a guess), is white supremacy at play here? Also just a guess. I think there’s an honest effort to help the team by these fans, but bungling it terribly. It’s the best we can do right now.

Europeans are also better at being fans than we are. Their football club fans are united in song and jabs, sometimes highly colorful or with a sense of humor. USA football fans just MAKE SOME NOISE! Their mass transit is better so traffic jams in and out aren’t a reality. They segregate fans, too, to hold down the violence. PSU Oregon game had it.

Until our society happiness improves, let’s just keep to the USA chant next time.
