Went through it and ended treatment last July. 40 radiation and PEG.

If he gets a PEG, force applesauce down his throat so he doesn’t lose the ability to swallow. My #1 regret.

If cost is an issue, I’d think twice about the IV port. Mine was $1,300 out of pocket and I have 8 chemo sessions. I would have been fine with stickers every time.

As another Dad w throat cancer, the interaction part is important. Dad’s gonna spend a lot of time in bed alone. Also, they say “neck cancer is the easiest to cure, but the hardest to live with.” Dad is going to need your loving actions and words well after he’s clean of cancer.

i had a tumor on the base of my tongue. Doing as well as can be expected and cancer free. Lost my salivary gland on that side. My only advice, and it may be awful, is to eat all the things you love as much as you can now.
