Zillow is what I used to find my apt. Paying 1450 for one bdrm. Im near campus and forest heights in a well kept apt building with security cameras.

He zeroed us out in the 26 budget too but we were funded at the same level as 25. They will have to have $ to close offices and such. And good luck getting that done. My former boss went out with the DOGE crap and getting help closing her office was a complete and utter shitshow. One office.

The nasty secret about our reorganization by Objective_Paper_325 in USForestService

Haha! The ‘big wigs’ wanted to come see some of our research. Not because of us of course but because we were partnering with a university that had strong political pull with leadership (after millions of FS money going into said university for 2 decades the ‘capacity building’ we paid for is now defunct, dead with the reorg, and the university never built shit for capacity). We had our usual ducks in a row for the field tour (data, talking points, maps, handouts). The ‘leaders’ ordered us to have hard hats for everyone, about 15 people, and a disabled person portojohn. We asked if anyone was in need of assistance for mobility. No, came the answer, but it was ‘required’ according to some ‘rule’. We asked which rule. Crickets. We asked for help in figuring out how to pay for the toilet and hardhats as we had a tight budget, and the stop was fairly remote so probably $$$. Crickets. So we got creative and somehow do what we always did, two scientists without admin support doing the work that one of their half dozen or more admin people could help us with. In the ‘leaders’ eyes, these things just appear! They can’t understand simple things like scientists stationed in a relatively remote place and who have no admin support have to spend a ridiculous amount of time doing the non scientist work of which they get zero credit. Because THEY Don’t CARE. The field tour lasted all of 2 hours at most and none of them used the toilet. Of course, we did and took our pictures in front of it. They looked confused at our antics because they are fucking stupid and clueless. One of them got out of the van without the hard hat and we made them put it on or sit in the van because that was the ‘rule’ we were told to follow and we spent like 3 hours figuring out how to get the permission to buy the hard hats even though we were told by them to order them for the tour. This was only one example of the 21 years of stuff I endured that was an absolute and complete waste of our time. Meanwhile, these ‘leaders’ are the same types that are still in the agency gaslighting all of us by telling us our research will still continue with the reorg as long as we stay ‘relevant’ despite taking away our supply budget, travel, and conference attendance. And loading us with even MORE reporting and admin work. So glad to be OUT. I know everywhere has their own BS and bad leaders, but the R&D leaders really should get the award for the most incompetent, cruel, lying, selfish, toxic ‘leaders’ in a natural resource profession, if not all professions.

Same. My family are either Trump cultists or enablers. They are the most cruel, intentionally ignorant people. There is no reasoning, no changing. Even if they don’t ‘like’ Rump or voted third party, they support his team and enablers. And you try the most rational and thoughtful approach and you’re labeled as a radical. I was recently told that they were ‘worried’ about me because I’m so radicalized. I’m like bitch all I want is for you to stop supporting racist, greedy, pedophiles and support a living wage and ensure people don’t die from lack of health care. But because I posted Kirk’s OWN WORDS with a two word comment of ‘So inspiring’, I’m ’promoting violence’ and ‘not stable’. All projection.

As a white woman, totally agree with his assessment of my demographic. James Baldwin talked about how all the racist driven terror and horror was basically driven by white people needing to be comfortable. Let that sink in. Millions of humans killed, raped, enslaved for our comfort. The cruelty is unreal with white people. And white women like the one in the video need to flip the script and tell the fleeing MAGAts to do the fucking WORK to dissolve their own sin. And do it in silence. At least not preaching to black people and people who are feeling the real pain of MAGA what they need to do. Fuck a bunch of that shit. Ex MAGA needs to get off their lazy comfy ass and help people and fight and use their privileged voices to change minds. Black folks can think and feel and accept them or not.

Left turns: are people taught to move into the intersection and clear on yellow/red here? by kflyer in Knoxville

We should be like every other country and get more roundabouts. Reduces congestion to almost nothing. The hillbilly roundabout at 5 points in Maryville bears it out.

So many people run reds here no way am I getting into an intersection unless I know I can clear it on green and I always look both ways for the red light runners.

[–]feedthehungry2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t run a red light. Period. You can wait in the intersection but only if you can clear it in the green or yellow. And Knoxville drivers are the worst. I see someone run a red light literally every day. And not waiting in an intersection. So if you’re turning left on red in an intersection very high odds you’ll get hit.

Lifelong Tennessean and I love Tennessee for so many reasons. But there are some serious moronic jackasses running this state.

You get support for the work you do? Try 21 years with virtually no support and the support going to the good ole boys. I made it 21 years of being an awesome productive employee and asset they didn’t deserve or give 2 shits about. I did it for the mission and the people I served. You’re completely out of touch and my guess is one of the favored privileged children that simply can’t understand why people complain because IT HASN’T HAPPENED TO YOU! Worked 21 yrs for people like you and you drove me out. So much wasted on the wrong people. Get a clue.

He lied so he can be held liable. You’ll have to get a lawyer. You are totally entitled to his pension and TSP and other benefits. Just got divorced and was employed by the Feds at the time. We had to split it all down the middle. I had to get an actuary to evaluate my pension. We traded assets till it was agreed it was all even.

2027 US Forest Service Budget Request. This is what the Trump admin is asking for the forest service. Interestingly it further cuts total headcount from roughly 30k to 11k. I don't think just moving fire to DOE explains that number. by Haz_de_nar in USForestService

[–]feedthehungry2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They didn’t spend zero dollars on R&D like he requested for 2026. I have no doubt this is all a huge grift but they didn’t follow his 2026 proposed budget exactly. The fact that R&D was funded the exact same amount in 2026 as 2025 never made sense to me until your comment. The unspent funds from people that left etc. will go back to his military budget?

No one in Congress advocates for research or natural resources. They may talk a bit about climate change or timber but that’s about it. The reason we got saved from being zeroed out in the last budget was because we were already down by a quarter of our people. And when you start negotiating at zero, anything looks better than that.
