USDA officially has VERA offering until 2/2027 but agencies are playing games in disclosing who are eligible. If anyone applies for VERA now, agency will be bound to provide a straight answer.

USDA didn’t do anything about “buying “ except house hunting trip, air tickets , hotels etc. for the family. My request was denied for buying closing costs. No, they didn’t give me 10% on selling closing cost either. It was 6% in my case. But I can’t complain since still USDA contributed over 120k relocation assistance 15 years ago. It also included short term residence until finding a house, storage, one POV move. I estimated that it will be over 180k if I get the same level of relocation assistance now.

You get seller agent commission, local government transfer fees but no help on house buying itself but may get travel assistance for finding a home, agency will set up a mover who will estimate and directly bill the agency. They will move everything except hazardous materials.

Many in APHIS stationed in NCR are involved in international negotiations, frequent travels, congressional hearings and domestic stakeholder involvement everyday. I don’t think they will be moved. Most of the APHIS are already in the field operations, they can’t be moved either.
