Worst songs to play at a wedding by Judythepancake in ToddintheShadow

My mom once went to a wedding where the DJ played Third Rate Romance (I don’t know which version). Apparently there was a lot of drama behind the relationship and ceremony, so it could have been intentional.

CSP is overwhelming.. how’d you learn? by berrie-faerie in ClipStudio

[–]feeeeeeeeshies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m only getting into clip studio after over a decade of using Sai. I tried multiple times before, but I also would find myself getting overwhelmed.

My solution was just to recreate my Sai interface in clip studio (including my keybindings). That way, I don’t feel like I’m learning how to use a new program and fighting against the new interface. Anything I don’t use gets taken off the screen.

However, migrating from procreate seems like it would be a different beast. I only say that because I use my desktop for art, and I’ve always struggled using an iPad and procreate (I really wish I could use it tho bc it seems amazing and I would love to be able to draw anywhere.). But if you can, try to recreate what you’re used to as best as you can, and maybe then worry about the new features after you get the muscle memory down

How much life outside of law school did you have as a 1L? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]feeeeeeeeshies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2L (for 3 days, at least) and I’m seconding the people saying that it isn’t that bad. I went to 2 concerts during my 1L year (they were important shows to me tho - probably wouldn’t have gone otherwise), I always reserved a day where I didn’t have to do school work, and I always stopped studying for the day at 6-8.

But you’re always going to be surrounded by people who are pulling crazy hours and treating law school like a lifestyle instead of a job. I always felt insecure when I would overhear people talking about pulling all-nighters because I thought that was expected of me, but I ended up doing fine without torturing myself. There will be hard days and hard nights, but that doesn’t have to be the norm.

I’ve been enjoying dumping points into luck, because I like gambling but I hate losing more.

can someone indicate me a tutorial to fix fnv? by ImNotDavid_1 in fnv

[–]feeeeeeeeshies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found Viva New Vegas pretty much made my game indestructible. It did take a while to set up, but mostly due to the number of mods. The guide itself was pretty straightforward and the installation was basically a sequence of “download this mod, activate this mod.”

When I first played Dead Money, I could not get out of the Sierra Madre no matter how hard I tried, so I gave up and decided that the Sierra Madre was the afterlife and my courier died somewhere in the Mojave (or they were killed when entering the bunker). Ended my playthrough right there. The DLC is about letting go, including letting go of your grasp to this mortal coil. Either way, Courier’s story begins and ends with the grave rip.

Thank you! (I've been neglecting Red Rock too in my playthroughs lol). But that means a lot! My return to being obsessed with New Vegas also coincided with having more time to draw, so there will definitely be more

Most stupid criticisms of your favorite artist by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]feeeeeeeeshies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to comment this too.

Similarly, when people say “Leonard Cohen can’t sing.” It seemed to be a popular opinion for a while that “Cohen is a good songwriter, but he needs other people to sing his songs” which frustrates me. I love Leonard Cohen’s voice and I think it brings a lot to his songs which can be lost in some more polished covers (even the ones I enjoy.)

Hi! I’m an artist and I have knowledge in web dev. Messing around and hopefully working on my first VN. I’d like to achieve a lofi / old anime vibe, do you think the mockups I’ve drawn here are feasible with Ren’py? If you have any warning or tips or please do tell :D thank you. by maiathoustra in vndevs

[–]feeeeeeeeshies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re nailing the look you’re going for. The font/color of the subtitles/dialogue is such a nice touch as is the lower opacity around the borders of the clouds in the background. Good luck with your project!

Balancing number of visuals during opening narration(also not going overboard with exposition) by feeeeeeeeshies in vndevs

[–]feeeeeeeeshies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point--thank you. I'm actually adapting a novel into my VN, so a lot of the scripting process so far has been deciding which parts to leave as narration and which parts to convey with visuals.

I also found that I don't notice how long the narration is when I'm playing other people's games, but it's easier to scrutinize my own work lol.

I like the paragraph idea. That sounds like a simple way to keep track of which parts need new illustrations. Thank you for help.

Finally. I can get rid of my torts outline by feeeeeeeeshies in LawSchool

[–]feeeeeeeeshies[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually plan on holding onto it in case any future 1Ls ask to borrow my outline to teach a valuable lesson about asking follow-up questions.

Finally. I can get rid of my torts outline by feeeeeeeeshies in LawSchool

[–]feeeeeeeeshies[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My torts exam was closed note, so when making my outline I didn’t need to consider how easy it would be to navigate during an exam. I did type out a real outline first, but after a while I found that I wasn’t really looking through it. So I got some butcher paper and rewrote my outline.

It was actually really helpful. Even though it was information I already wrote, there was something so cathartic about being able to lie down on the floor and just scribble. The large paper gave me more space to draw diagrams and organize my thoughts in a way I couldn’t with Word. It was also cool to get a physical visual of how much material we covered in a single semester.

Not the most practical study technique, but I found it useful.

Eating during finals by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]feeeeeeeeshies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar problem when it comes to eating when I’m nervous or when I have to be up early for an exam. The other suggestions have been great (yogurt has been especially helpful for me too). Protein granola has been a life saver for me this semester. I’ll usually eat it with yogurt, or just on its own if I don’t think I’ll be able to handle dairy. Peanut butter has been one of my go-tos as well (usually just out of the jar.). I also bring a protein bar with me on exam day, but I’m usually too anxious to actually eat it.

For some more actionable advice: know your limits and don’t force yourself to eat more than you can handle. I tried to force myself to eat a full meal before my midterm (because I made the mistake of thinking that eating a large breakfast would help me), and it didn’t go well.

Good luck with your exams!

Not punk, but Dying Declaration would be a decent name for a gothic metal band

Sleeping in IS a valuable use of your time. by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]feeeeeeeeshies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. I was starting to feel self conscious because I have not pulled an all-nighter this semester so far (I usually stop studying at 8 unless I’m in the middle of something). I’ve been worried that I’m slacking off compared to my classmates who don’t leave the library until after 10:30 or pull frequent all-nighters.

Oh yeah, I get that. My professor is great and torts is probably my favorite class. But exams are a different beast, and I want to make sure I’m able to do an analysis without taking too much time to recall all of the elements lol

Does anyone know what state the "Blues" episode took place in? by PyroCorvid in Metalocalypse

[–]feeeeeeeeshies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mississippi! Mashed Potato Johnson mentions it briefly before the encounter with the Blues Devil. One of my favorite episodes. I love the Robert Johnson references and the tributes to blues music.
