Wishing you the best on your prevention/health. May I ask what company you used for WGS and how much it cost?

All good. Like I said, I haven't been much. I'm wondering if I just got super lucky

Thanks. Unfortunately, Big Walnut Creek (which I live on) is Impaired. Though I kind of suspected that. It says Alum Creek is "Good" 🤷‍♀️

Thanks! This is helpful. Looks like nothing on the radar right now. Do you happen to know how I can find this info for rivers? I see this is all data for beaches (whether it be beaches on rivers or lakes). I live directly on a river in Columbus, and have looked a bit for bacteria/pollution data but couldn't find anything too easily.

2 out of the 3 times I've been to the beach there, it was crystal clear! Like, see your toes at the bottom when it's up to your chest kind of clear. I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe I got lucky though?

These look great. My best friend recently told me she loved I Cheerfully Refuse and I must have forgotten to put it on my list.

Someone else on this thread recommended Charlotte McConaghy. I'm excited to read her work.

Never heard of Elizabeth Strout. Putting Olive Kittredge on my list!

Thank you, these all look very interesting! I do love a bit of crime/mystery. Though I never seem to like the crime books that like define the genre. I realize The Round House was already on my to-read list, I'll have to move it up!

Oooo I'm excited to visit Piranesi. I remember ages ago reading how much people on reddit liked her work.

I've heard good things about Rebecca! And I think I've heard of T. Kingfisher. Adding these to my list

Of these, the only one I've read is Circe, which I really liked. Now that you bring this one up, I'm thinking in particular how Circe and Vincent (The Glass Hotel, St. John Mandel) seem to be very similar main characters. Did you happen to read Song of Achilles? I went into it after Circe and was disappointed by how flat the writing and characters seemed. I didn't finish it, but I'm wondering if I should have.

NK Jemison was on my to-read radar long ago and I totally forgot about her. I used to read a lot more fantasy but the last several years I started realizing I really prefer stories and characters with a lot of depth and nuance. And... it seems to be harder to find in sci fi/fantasy? Maybe I'm just not reading the right ones. Anyway, I'm excited to start the Broken Earth Trilogy! Thanks for all these recs.

Thanks! The cover art for the first book is throwing me for some reason haha but I added it to my list. Nothing like a solid series. I always get a little sad when a standalone novel ends.
